    • Rehab stint coming soon
Thomas (knee) could start his rehab assignment next week, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Thomas has been making progress since suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain on April 23 and could return to game action as early as next week. Assuming all goes well during his rehab assignment, Thomas could return from the injured list before the end of May. Rotowire.com Today, 1:51 pm

    • Langeliers back in the lineup Friday
Shea Langeliers is back in the Athletics lineup, batting fourth against the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Langeliers had a routine day off on Thursday night against the Astros, but he’s back in the lineup on Friday. His average is just .218, but he has nine home runs and 24 RBI in 133 at-bats this season. Rotoworld Today, 1:01 pm
    • Swats solo homer
Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Alonso tagged Taijuan Walker (foot) for a solo shot in the first inning, putting the first baseman at 10 homers this season. He's now tied for the fourth-most home runs in the NL and owns a .772 OPS with 23 RBI and 27 runs through 164 at-bats. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Alonso goes deep Thursday
Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run against the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: The homer was Alonso’s 10th of the season. He’s probably having his worst season of his career so far. Still, Alonso is one of the most reliable players in fantasy baseball and we’ll almost certainly still be looking at close to 40 home runs and 100 RBI from him at the end of the season.

    • Keeps raking
Volpe went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during Thursday's 5-0 win over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe extended his hit streak to nine games with a first-inning solo home run off Joe Ryan. During that stretch, Volpe has gone yard three times with 10 total RBI while logging multiple hits four times. After an up-and-down rookie campaign, Volpe owns a .273/.348/.432 slash line with six homers and nine stolen bases through 199 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:01 pm

    • Taking seat Thursday
Langeliers is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Houston.

Advice: It's a routine day off for Langeliers after he started each of the last four days behind the plate. Kyle McCann will do the catching for Joey Estes on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:25 pm
    • Anthony Volpe homers, steals base in victory
Anthony Volpe went 2-for-5 with a leadoff homer and also stole a base on Thursday, leading the Yankees to a 5-0 victory over the Twins.

Advice: Volpe kicked off the contest with a leadoff homer against Twins starter Joe Ryan for his sixth round-tripper of the year. He also picked up his ninth stolen base of the season a couple frames later. The 23-year-old’s power output was a bit diminished at the outset of the year following offseason changes to flatten his swing and implement an all-fields approach, but he’s started to drive the ball a bit more of late with three homers in his last nine contests. • Pete Alonso hitting 2nd for Mets
Pete Alonso will hit second for the Mets on Thursday against the Phillies

Advice: This is the second straight start for Alonso in the second spot in the order, while Starling Marte moves down the sixth. Carlos Mendoza is clearly trying to jumpstart this Mets offense, and he was with the Yankees as a coach when they hit Aaron Judge second in the lineup, so perhaps he’s trying to recapture some of that magic. Alonso has just a .306 on-base percentage this year, which is the lowest of his career and his RBI opportunities will take a hit with the move out of the cleanup spot, so it’s unclear if this is a great decision. However, the big first baseman needs improve on his .756 OPS before we can worry about the impact of his spot in the lineup. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:06 pm

    • Runs bases Wednesday
Thomas (knee) ran the bases Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Thomas is running again for the first time since being diagnosed with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee three weeks ago. Zuckerman notes that Thomas wasn't running at full effort but seemed to be moving at close to 100 percent speed. Running the bases is typically one of the last steps a player coming back from a knee injury takes before embarking on a rehab assignment, though it's not yet clear when Thomas might report to a minor-league affiliate for game action.
