    • Brenton Doyle homers twice to lead Rockies
      Brenton Doyle homered twice, doubled and walked Monday as the Rockies edged the Brewers 8-7 in 10 innings.

      Advice: Doyle’s second homer tied the game in the bottom of the eighth. The center fielder was dropped from second to seventh in the Rockies lineup before the game, presumably because he’d hit .200/.225/.292 in his previous 16 games. The two homers gave him nine or the year, and he also swiped his 20th base. We’re not big believers in Doyle’s offense from an OPS standpoint, but with Coors Field helping him along, he likely will have lasting value in mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 9:19 pm
       
    • Nolan Jones collects two hits in Rockies’ win
      Nolan Jones went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a walk versus the Brewers on Monday.

      Advice: The second hit also would have been at least a double, but it hit first base umpire Brian O’Nora on its way down the first base line, resulting in a single. Jones has had issues with strikeouts since coming off the IL last month, but he’s hitting the ball harder than he did in April and drawing a bunch of walks (12 in 15 games).     • Monster performance in win
      Doyle went 3-for-4 with two homers, a steal, three RBI and three runs scored in Monday's 8-7 win over the Brewers.

      Advice: Doyle opened the game's scoring when he blasted a mammoth 445-foot, two-run homer off Bryse Wilson in the second. The Colorado center fielder then cracked a solo shot in the eighth to tie the game at 7-7. Doyle also added his 20th stolen base of the season when he nabbed second in the fourth inning. After a rough .203 batting average in his rookie year, the 26-year-old sophomore has become a steady producer in 2024, now hitting .260 with nine homers, 48 runs scored and 30 RBI.       Wood went 1-for-4 with a walk in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

      Advice: The 21-year-old recorded a hit in his first major-league plate appearance, knocking a single to left off David Peterson. Wood later worked a five-pitch walk in the 10th inning. After slashing .353/.463/.595 in 231 plate appearances at Triple-A, the Washington outfielder appears set to play every day in left field for the Nationals. Wood has all the tools to be a fantasy star, as he reached double-digits in both homers and steals -- 10 apiece -- with 37 RBI and 44 runs scored in 52 games with Rochester before his call-up.       James Wood singled and walked in five plate appearances in his major league debut Monday against the Mets.

      Advice: The single came in his first big-league bat, as he managed to power a two-strike fastball through the left side of the infield (it helped a great deal that, because the Mets were shifted, it was Mark Vientos trying to field the grounder, rather than Francisco Lindor).       An MRI on Corey Seager’s injured left hand came back negative, leaving the shortstop day-to-day.

      An MRI on Seager's left wrist has come back negative, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

      Advice: X-rays had also previously came back clean, so Seager's return to the Rangers' lineup will be determined by how much discomfort and swelling he's dealing with. The shortstop was injured when he was struck by a pitch Saturday in Baltimore and didn't play Sunday's game, but he has managed to avoid a serious injury and should be considered day-to-day.       Senga (shoulder/triceps) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Wednesday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: Senga is slated to throw about 40 pitches in his first game appearance since he was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain back in February. The right-hander will require multiple rehab outings before returning from the 60-day injured list, but he should be able to make his first start for the Mets before the end of July if all goes well.
