    • Robbie Ray completes Triple-A rehab start
Robbie Ray (elbow) allowed three runs over three innings on Thursday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento.

Advice: Ray struck out three and only issued one walk. He gave up only two hits, but one of them wound up leaving the yard. The 32-year-old southpaw is in the closing stages of his recovery from last year’s Tommy John surgery and figures to be ready to make his San Francisco debut right around the All-Star break. • Posts big offensive line Thursday
O'Neill went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run, two RBI and two stolen bases in a 6-5 extra-innings win against Miami on Thursday.

Advice: O'Neill accounted for three of Boston's eight total hits to record his third consecutive multi-hit effort. He came up big in extra frames, recording an RBI single in the 11th inning and adding the game-winning RBI on a double in the 12th. O'Neill also collected two thefts in the contest after notching just one steal (on one attempt) over his first 60 games of the season. Swiping bags probably won't become a trend for the outfielder moving forward, though it's worth noting that he stole 29 combined bases across the 2021 and 2022 campaigns while with St. Louis. • Surrenders four runs in defeat
Bassitt (7-7) took the loss against Houston on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out three batters over five innings.

Advice: Bassitt got off to a terrible start in allowing six of the first seven batters he faced to reach base, resulting in three Astros runs. The veteran hurler bounced back to give up just one more run over the remainder of his five frames, but the first-inning damage was enough to send him to his seventh loss of the season. Bassitt had been rolling coming into Thursday, posting a 1.41 ERA across his previous five starts, and the four runs he yielded against Houston were his most since he gave up seven runs against the Dodgers on April 26. Bassitt's overall numbers this season have been pretty much in line with what fantasy managers have come to expect from him -- he has a 3.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 94:41 K:BB across 102.1 frames. • Sitting down Thursday
Smith isn't in the Dodgers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Smith went 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored during Wednesday's loss, and he'll get a breather during Thursday's rubber match. Austin Barnes will start at catcher instead and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:07 pm

    • Tyler O’Neill drives in two, steals two bases
Tyler O’Neill went 3-for-5 with two RBI and two stolen bases in a 6-5 win over the Marlins on Thursday in 12 innings.

Advice: O’Neill picked up both RBI in extra innings. The first was an infield single to give Boston a 3-2 lead in the 11th, and the next was a double in the 12th that extended the lead for the Red Sox to 6-4. The steals are a bit of a rarity for the outfielder, as they were just the second and third of the season for the 29-year-old. O’Neill certainly has the speed to contribute in that category, so it’s possible he’ll run more in the second half of the campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Sitting Thursday
Garcia isn't in the Royals' lineup Thursday against the Rays.

Advice: Garcia will get a day to rest Thursday after going 1-for-7 with a walk and a run scored through the first two games of the series. His absence will move Michael Massey into second base while Vinnie Pasquantino serves as the DH, putting Salvador Perez at first with Freddy Fermin behind the plate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:12 pm

    • Chris Bassitt allows four to Astros over five
Chris Bassitt went five innings while allowing four runs in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Bassitt, 35, gave up eight hits, walked four and struck out three. Most of the damage was done early, as he gave up three runs in the first inning before settling down. The right-hander had allowed just three total earned runs over his last two starts, so it goes without saying this outing — while not horrific — didn’t keep that good run going. His final start before the break is scheduled Wednesday against the Giants in San Francisco. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm

    • Kyle Tucker out through All-Star Break
According to the Houston Chronicle, Kyle Tucker (shin) and Justin Verlander (neck) will both be out through the All-Star break.

Advice: Tucker’s long absence with a shin bruise will continue. It’s fair to wonder if there’s something more going on here, but Tucker will remain out for at least another two weeks through the All-Star game on July 16th. Both Astros fans and fantasy managers hope that will be enough time to get Tucker back on the field on July 19th. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:10 am

    • Out through All-Star break
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Tucker (lower leg) won't return from the injured list before the All-Star break, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 27-year-old saw his recovery progress from the lower leg bruise pick up this week, but he won't be back before the midseason festivities. Tucker has been on the injured list nearly a month and could require a rehab assignment before being cleared for major-league action. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:15 am
