    • Takes another loss on homer
      Duran (0-2) took the loss Sunday against the Guardians, giving up a game-ending home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. He allowed three runs on one hit and two walks with no strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning.

      Advice: It was the second home run that Duran allowed in the late innings in a tied game in the three-game series during which the Twins were swept. Duran hadn't walked a batter in eight innings before Sunday, so this is probably a minor setback. The bigger worry for fantasy managers is that he's been used in the eighth inning against the heart of the opposing team's order several times since his return from the injured list, ceding the save chance to another arm (usually Griffin Jax) in the bullpen. While Duran as the top choice for saves, Twins manager Rocco Baldelli isn't afraid to use him earlier in games or in tied games on the road. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:25 pm
       
    • Three-hit day
      Cowser went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Mariners.

      Advice: Cowser beat out a two-out infield single in the first to secure the second run of the game for the Orioles. He later added a double and a single, eventually coming around to score after both during an impressive three-hit day. It was the second three-hit game for Cowser this season, with the first taking place April 11. He's now slashing .277/.371/.521 through 140 plate appearances with six homers, 23 RBI, 16 runs and three steals. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:24 pm
       
    • Pitches through illness
      Hicks (4-1) allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out one over five innings to earn the win Sunday over the Rockies.

      Advice: Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports Hicks threw up his pregame meal. The right-hander also experienced diminished velocity -- all of his pitches were down between 2.4 and 3.6 mph from his season averages in Sunday's start, so it's obvious he wasn't at full strength. He still landed 49 of 72 pitches for strikes and gave up just a first-inning home run to Ryan McMahon, while the Giants' bullpen picked him up with four hitless innings. Hicks has gone past five innings in just three of his 10 starts this year, but he's done well with a 2.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB over 53 innings. It's not odd that the Giants may be managing his innings carefully since he's never exceeded 77.2 innings in a major-league campaign. There's no reason to worry about Hicks missing his next projected start -- on the road versus the Mets -- at this time. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:01 pm
       
    • Road struggles continue
      Kirby (4-4) suffered the loss Sunday against the Orioles, allowing five runs on nine hits over six innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Kirby was tagged for a solo homer by Gunnar Henderson to lead off the game and eventually allowed five runs and two homers through three innings before settling down and making it through six frames with no additional damage. It was the first time in seven starts Kirby has allowed more than five hits, while the five earned runs lifted Kirby's ERA to 3.99 over 56.1 innings and 5.19 over 26 innings on the road. Kirby's next start is also slated to take place on the road, though in a much friendlier matchup, as he's tentatively lined up to take on the Nationals in Washington next weekend.     • Knocks two extra-base hits
      Witt went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over Oakland.

      Advice: Witt drove in a run with a first-inning double before coming around to score. He later tripled before chipping in an RBI sacrifice fly. He entered Sunday in a 3-for-24 (.125) skid over his previous six games but snapped that with his 18th multi-hit performance of the year.     • Ohtani has game-winning single on Sunday
      Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with the game-winning RBI in a 3-2 win over the Reds in 10 innings on Sunday.

      Advice: With the game tied in the 10th, Ohtani laced a 100.3 mph single off of Alexis Diaz to score Jason Heyward and give the Dodgers the win. It was Ohtani’s 33rd RBI of the season to go along with a stellar .353/.423/.658 triple slash. He was likely underdrafted in fantasy leagues because he was listed at just UTIL in most formats.     • Elly De La Cruz strikes out four times in loss
      Elly De La Cruz went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

      Advice: After a tremendous first game of the series, De La Cruz finished the final three games against the Dodgers going 0-for-13 with eight strikeouts. He’s off to an absurd start to the season with 30 stolen bases and nine home runs in 47 games; however, he has started to give back some of his early plate discipline gains. De La Cruz now has 26 strikeouts to just five walks in May while going 14-for-65 at the plate for a .215 average. He’s an electric fantasy player and not somebody you’d ever take out of your lineup, but the 22-year-old remains a work in progress as far as his approach at the plate goes.     • Hunter Greene looks good against LAD
      Hunter Greene allowed two runs on four hits in 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Sunday.

      Advice: Greene struck out eight and walked just two on the day. He also posted a 35 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW as the four-seam fastball carved up the Dodgers on Sunday. Greene also allowed just one extra-base hit, but it happened to be a home run to Andy Pages. All of that pre-season talk of Greene adding another pitch was much ado about nothing, as Greene threw just eight splitters on the day and earned one whiff, but his slider command has improved and Greene has a 3.22 ERA on the season heading into a rematch against these Dodgers next week.     • Jordan Hicks’ velocity is way down in win
      Jordan Hicks allowed one run on three hits in five innings in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.

      Advice: The big news here is that Hicks averaged just 91.7 mph on his sinker after averaging 95.3 mph on the year. In fact, he was down 2.5 mph or more on every single one of his pitches in this start, which is part of the reason why he struck out just one batter. Of course, because he was facing the Rockies, he wasn’t saddled with that much damage. It will be interesting to hear what the Giants have to say about the performance or if it was just an off night for the oft-injured right-hander.
