      Mize did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks over four innings against the Red Sox. He struck out four.

      Advice: Mize allowed solo runs in each of the first three innings, needing 82 pitches to escape four innings. It was a struggle throughout much of the outing for Mize, who allowed nine batters to reach base. After posting seven-consecutive starts of at least five innings including four quality starts, Mize has failed to finish the fifth in any of his last three starts, allowing at least nine baserunners in each. He'll carry a 4.70 ERA and 1.49 WHIP into his next start, likely to take place next weekend when the Tigers play host to the Brewers. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago

      Chris Bassitt struck out seven across five innings in a 5-4 win over the Pirates on Sunday. He allowed three earned runs and walked one while securing the win.

      Advice: Bassitt was able to navigate nine Pirates base runners to keep just enough runs off the board and earn his sixth win of the season. This was his third straight win in as many starts as he’s put a poor April in the rear view mirror and pitched much more like the ultra-steady Bassitt we’ve come to expect.     • Casey Mize walks four in four innings
      Casey Mize surrendered three runs — two earned — and walked four in four innings Sunday against the Red Sox.

      Advice: This really should have been worse, but the Red Sox went 0-for-2 stealing bases to help Mize out. It’s the third straight start in which Mize has failed to complete five innings, and his ERA sits at 4.70 after 11 starts. The Tigers aren’t going to remain patient for much longer.     • Sent down after poor start
      Detmers (3-6) took the loss Saturday against the Mariners, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks with three strikeouts in 3.2 innings. He was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake after the start.

      Advice: Detmers started the season as one of the Angels' top starters and garnered wins in each of his first three starts, striking out 26 batters with two runs allowed across 17.1 innings. However, he hasn't gotten in the win column since. Outside of a decent 8.9 K/9 across his last 40.1 innings, nothing has been working for Detmers lately, as he's allowed 10 long balls and 20 walks over that stretch. The 24-year-old was a reliable arm for Los Angeles the past two seasons and it's possible that a Triple-A stint will help the southpaw regain some confidence and find his previous form.       Angels optioned LHP Reid Detmers to Triple-A Salt Lake.

      Advice: The 24-year-old southpaw was hit hard again in Saturday’s loss to the Mariners — giving up five runs over 3 2/3 innings — and that was apparently the last straw. Detmers has posted a miserable 6.14 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and a 70/27 K/BB ratio over 63 innings through 12 starts on the season. He’ll work to refine his craft at the Triple-A level before hopefully rejoining the Angels’ rotation later in the season.       Reid Detmers allowed five runs in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Saturday.

      Advice: Detmers gave up four hits, walked four and struck out three. He continues to struggle as he’s now allowed at least four runs in seven of his last eight starts. Detmers hasn’t won a game since winning his first three starts of the season. His ERA is now the worst it’s been all year at 6.14.     • Joe Musgrove lands on IL with elbow inflammation
      Padres placed RHP Joe Musgrove on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation.

      Advice: Musgrove lasted just two starts before an elbow issue winds up sending him back on the shelf. Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that Musgrove is dealing with a recurring triceps/elbow issue, which “is not believed at this time to be a season-ending injury.” The fact that the term season-ending is even being brought up here isn’t an encouraging sign. It certainly doesn’t sound great and fantasy managers should anticipate Musgrove returning anytime soon. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days once he undergoes some additional imaging to determine whether he’s dealing with any structural damage. Stay tuned.     • Elbow issues return
      The Padres placed Musgrove on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right elbow inflammation, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

      Advice: Musgrove was originally slated to start Saturday against the Royals, but he will now return to the injured list after experiencing further issues with his right elbow/triceps. The 31-year-old was able to return from the IL after 16 days following his first encounter with elbow problems in May, but the Padres will likely bring him back slower this time around to ensure his elbow is back to 100 percent the next time he takes the mound. Randy Vasquez was recalled from Triple-A to start in Musgrove's place Saturday and will likely remain in the Padres' rotation until Musgrove is able to return. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:39 am
