    • Allows rare run
Clase earned a save over the Giants on Sunday. He gave up a run on one hit in one inning of work.

Advice: Clase coughed up an out-of-character run on a Michael Conforto groundout. Clase was still able to close out the 5-4 win and pick up his 27th save of the year. He's given up just four earned runs through 42.1 innings this season, resulting in a 0.85 ERA. Sunday's outing snapped a nine-inning scoreless streak. Clase has converted 14 straight save chances and is 27 for 30 in 2024. Rotowire.com Today, 7:43 pm
    • Drives in two in win
Arenado went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Arenado continues his hot stretch at the plate with his third consecutive game of two or more hits. It's the second time this season he's put together a streak of three straight multi-hits, each of which has come over his last 22 appearances. He also picked up an RBI in consecutive games after a stretch where he only had two RBI in his last 14 games. The veteran's slash line sits at a solid .270/.322/.379 but a lack of homers - seven so far - has stunted his fantasy value. Rotowire.com Today, 5:49 pm

    • Dylan Cease gives up two homers in defeat
Dylan Cease yielded three runs in seven innings Sunday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The runs came on longballs from two players who had totaled two and six homers while serving as regulars all year long. He’s given up 14 homers in his last 14 starts, resulting in a 5.11 ERA even though he has an impressive 103/22 K/BB ratio in 79 1/3 innings over that span. There’s no reason he can’t bounce back with a big second half, but there’s also no good reason he isn’t already pitching better. Rotoworld Today, 4:47 pm
    • Live BP up next
Williams (back) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Tuesday at American Family Field, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Williams began throwing off a mound in late June, and it didn't take long for him to be cleared to face live hitters. The right-hander will require a minor-league rehab assignment before being reinstated from the 60-day injured list, though it's unclear how many outings he might need. The Brewers have been targeting the July 30 trade deadline as a general target date for Williams' return. Rotowire.com Today, 4:30 pm

    • Remains in rotation
Baz is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Yankees at Tropicana Field.

Advice: Baz will make a second straight turn through the Tampa Bay rotation as he continues to fill the spot that belonged to Aaron Civale, who was traded to the Brewers last week. After being called up from Triple-A Durham on Friday to make his first start for the Rays since July 10, 2022, Baz struck out six while allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings in a loss to the Rangers. Though he maintains a hold on a rotation spot for now, Baz could still be at some risk of losing out on a starting role once Jeffrey Springs (elbow) eventually returns from the 60-day injured list. • Sean Manaea strong again across six innings
Sean Manaea shut the Pirates out over six innings on Sunday. He struck out six, walked three, and allowed just two hits.

Advice: Manaea had a rocky start to this game going to multiple three-ball counts in the first inning and throwing 40 pitches total over the first two. Then, he locked in and faced just two batters over the minimum over the rest of his outing. The Pirates had zero left-handed batters in their lineup against the southpaw Manaea and he responded with a heavy diet of sinkers and sweepers. He seemed to make an adjustment with his sweeper too: it was down two ticks and had significantly more depth than usual. He even said, “it felt more like a curveball today” when talking about the pitch after the game. It all worked and Manaea has allowed just one earned run across his last three starts. • Logs another quality start
Manaea yielded two hits, three walks and struck out six over six shutout frames but did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Pirates.

Advice: Manaea had another strong outing, picking up back-to-back quality starts for the first time since 2022. The left-hander did not allow a hit until two outs in the fourth, when Ke'Bryan Hayes reached on an infield hit. Unfortunately, Manaea did not get much run support, which continues a common theme with him since he's still at five wins this season despite allowing three runs or fewer in 14 of his 17 starts.  Rotowire.com Today, 2:11 pm

    • Emmanuel Clase earns 27th save
Emmanuel Clase allowed one run on one hit but secured the save in a 5-4 win over the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: Clase allowed a one-out double to Matt Chapman before Chapman advanced to third on a catcher’s interference and then scored on a groundout. Overall, it was a good appearance for Clase, who now has 27 saves to go along with a 0.85 ERA on the season. Rotoworld Today, 1:53 pm
    • Flaherty (back) scheduled to start Thursday
Jack Flaherty (back) is scheduled to start Thursday’s game against the Guardians.

Advice: Flaherty missed Wednesday’s scheduled start against the Twins because of his back issue. The right-handed hurler will need to avoid setbacks in order to make that next start and Detroit will take the necessary precautions, but it’s obviously a good sign that the 28-year-old is penciled in for the outing.
