    • Emmanuel Clase collects save in All-Star Game
Emmanuel Clase fired a scoreless ninth inning to collect the save during Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game at Globe Life Field.

Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame of the Midsummer Classic and needed just 13 pitches (11 strikes) to preserve the victory. The hard-throwing 26-year-old right-hander made quite a statement in his third straight All-Star Game appearance, striking out Pete Alonso to open the frame before retiring Elly De La Cruz on a ground out to second base. Padres rookie Jackson Merrill managed to get on-base with an infield single before he struck out Bryan Reynolds to slam the door. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:54 pm
    • Ketel Marte to lead off for NL All-Star squad
Ketel Marte will lead off for Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo in the NL All-Star lineup.

Advice: It’s a defensible choice, though Shohei Ohtani is right there, and Trea Turner and Christian Walker also might have been better options. Marte will be followed by Ohtani, Turner, Bryce Harper, William Contreras, Yelich, Alex Bohm, Teoscar Hernández and Jurickson Profar. Rotoworld Monday, 1:15 pm

    • Impresses in latest rehab start
Ray (elbow) struck out nine batters and gave up one hit and one walk over five scoreless innings in his rehab start Sunday with Single-A San Jose.

Advice: Making his ninth and perhaps final minor-league rehab appearance as he works his way back from May 2023 Tommy John surgery, Ray submitted his lengthiest and best outing yet. He built up to 74 pitches (56 strikes) in the rehab start and now owns a 4.13 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 38:4 K:BB in 24 innings over stops with San Jose, Triple-A Sacramento and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. With Ray looking fully recovered from elbow surgery from both a workload and performance standpoint, he appears poised to return from the 60-day injured list to make his Giants debut coming out of the All-Star break. If the Giants opt to keep a five-man rotation intact rather than expanding to six, rookie Hayden Birdsong would seem to be most at risk of losing his starting spot once Ray is activated. • Stays hot on basepaths
Thomas went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Brewers.

Advice: The 28-year-old outfielder is sprinting into the All-Star break. While Thomas' homer drought stands at 23 games, he's reached base safely in all 14 games in July, slashing .298/.375/.351 for the month with three doubles, four RBI, six runs and six of his 23 steals on the season. • Nets 16th save
Yates picked up the save Sunday against the Astros, allowing one run on a hit and a walk with no strikeouts across one inning.

Advice: While Yates advanced to 16-for-16 in save opportunities this season, he snapped his streak of eight consecutive scoreless innings. The 37-year-old walked Jon Singleton and yielded a single to Jeremy Pena to start the ninth frame, with Singleton eventually coming around to score on a groundout by Joey Loperfido. The outing bumped Yates' ERA from 0.81 to 1.05, and he has a 0.90 WHIP across 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Sunday, 9:21 pm

    • Dazzles in first rehab outing
Williams (back) struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect inning during his rehab appearance Sunday with High-A Wisconsin.

Advice: Williams has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a pair of stress fractures in his back, but he didn't exhibit any signs of rust in his first game action of 2024. He needed just 14 pitches to strike out the side and generated four swings-and-misses during his brief time on the mound. The Brewers may have Williams shift his rehab assignment to Double-A Biloxi or Triple-A Nashville for a tougher test following the All-Star break, but the right-hander may not require too many more tune-up outings in the minors if he continues to look as sharp as he did Sunday. Williams should eventually supplant Trevor Megill as the Brewers' preferred option to close games once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:31 pm

    • Ketel Marte’s grand slam not enough to beat Jays
Ketel Marte blasted a grand slam homer on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to power the Diamondbacks to victory over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Marte got the Diamondbacks’ offense started with a monstrous 443-foot (109.8 mph EV) grand slam as part of a seven-/run uprising off of Yusei Kikuchi in the fifth inning. He also had a pair of singles in the ballgame, finishing the day 3-for-5. The All-Star second baseman finishes the first half hitting .292/.362/.515 with 19 homers, 57 RBI and six stolen bases. • Kirby Yates earns stressful save
Kirby Yates allowed a hit, a walk, and a run on Sunday against the Astros before nailing down the save.

Advice: Yates did not make this one easy. He walked the lead-off man Jon Singleton before Jeremy Peña smacked a single to bring the tying run to the plane. He worked out of the jam though, as he has all year, to grab his 16th save of the season to go along with a 1.05 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:52 pm

    • José Ramírez goes hitless in loss
José Ramírez went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in a loss to the Rays on Sunday.

Advice: Ramírez was up in the ninth inning with two runners on, nobody out, and the Guardians down by two, but he popped up to the infield. The All-Star is now 11-for-51 in July (.216 average) with no home runs and just one RBI. It’s been a pretty brutal month, but there’s nothing much to do about it from a fantasy perspective. Ramírez is still having a solid all-around season, so you need to just keep him in your lineup and hope the All-Star break helps. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:02 pm
