    • Daulton Varsho with two hits, RBI for Blue Jays
Daulton Varsho went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Wednesday against the Astros.

Advice: The Blue Jays once again shook up their lineup and Varsho landed in the fifth spot with George Springer back to lead-off and Bo Bichette fourth. Regardless, it still could not spark their struggling offense. Varsho briefly got his average back above the Mendoza-line before it sunk back to .199. He and nearly every Blue Jays’ hitter has been a disappointment this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm

    • Resting Wednesday
Jeffers isn't in the Twins' lineup for Wednesday's game versus Detroit.

Advice: Jeffers and Christian Vazquez continue to alternate starts behind the plate, with Wednesday marking Vazquez's turn to catch. Jeffers went 0-for-4 with an RBI during Tuesday's win, leaving him hitless in eight at-bats over his last two contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:37 pm

    • Could return as second baseman
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts stated over the weekend that he may consider having Betts (wrist) play primarily at second base upon his return, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: The consideration to shift Betts back to second base from shortstop is primarily due to the impressive performance of Miguel Rojas, who has played excellent defense, as usual, while adding a surprisingly potent bat (he's slashing .291/.337/.437 over 164 plate appearances). The versatile Betts is no stranger to second base; he played a career-high 70 games at the position last year after beginning the campaign in the outfield. Betts was then asked to move to shortstop ahead of 2024 despite never having logged time there in the majors prior to 2023, and he's performed adequately defensively despite a few hiccups. It remains to be seen if the Dodgers will ultimately pursue having Betts and Rojas form their middle infield for most games, and Roberts has time to think through that scenario since Betts remains several weeks away from returning. He threw and ran Tuesday, per the Associated Press, but hasn't yet swung a bat. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:18 pm

    • Notches 15th save
Doval struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 15th save of the season in a 5-3 win over Atlanta.

Advice: The 26-year-old right-hander was in peak form, whiffing Adam Duvall with a 100.6 mph cutter to end the game. Doval blew his last save chance Friday, though, and consistency has been an issue for him all year -- through 33.2 innings, he's posted a 4.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 44:22 K:BB, a significant step backward from his ratios the prior two seasons. • Clubs homer
Lindor went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored during Tuesday's 7-2 extra-inning win over the Nationals.

Advice: Lindor got the Mets on the board with a sixth-inning solo home run off DJ Herz and came around to score the game-tying run in the eighth on a Brandon Nimmo single. The long ball was Lindor's 14th of the year, placing him in the top five among shortstops. He's slashing .249/.313/.446 with 56 runs and 15 stolen bases across 377 plate appearances. • Grayson Rodriguez strikes out eight to defeat M’s
Grayson Rodriguez was exceptional in Tuesday night’s victory over the Mariners, racking up eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

Advice: The 24-year-old budding superstar scattered just two hits and four walks on the evening. Only once did the Mariners advance a runner past second base on Rodriguez in this one, and that came with two outs in the sixth inning before Rodriguez punched out Cal Raleigh to end the threat. He generated a whopping 19 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 32 percent. Now 10-3 on the season, Rodriguez will carry a 3.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 97/29 K/BB ratio (88 2/3 innings) into battle against the Athletics in Oakland on Sunday. Rotoworld Tuesday, 10:23 pm

    • Earns 10th win
Rodriguez (10-3) allowed two hits and four walks while striking out eight over 6.1 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Advice: This was just the second time in his last seven starts that Rodriguez walked multiple batters, but that was virtually the only flaw in his performance Tuesday. It was also his third scoreless outing of the year. Rodriguez is now at a 3.45 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 97:29 K:BB through 88.2 innings over 15 starts. The right-hander is tentatively projected for a home start versus the Cubs for his next appearance if the Orioles go to a six-man rotation, though he could move up to pitch on regular rest at Oakland on Sunday if Baltimore elects to work with five starters. • Rhys Hoskins leads Brewers past Rockies on Tuesday
Rhys Hoskins drew a go-ahead bases-loaded walk with two outs in the ninth inning on Tuesday night, leading the Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Rockies.

Advice: Hoskins entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Jake Bauers in the eighth inning where he went down on strikes. He atoned for that failure in the ninth inning though, working a walk off of Justin Lawrence to drive in the go-ahead run. On the season, the 31-year-old slugger is hitting .224/.318/.404 with 11 homers, 38 RBI and a pair of stolen bases. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:14 pm

    • Doval picks up 15th save in win over Braves
Camilo Doval pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two in Tuesday’s win over the Braves.

Advice: Doval now has 14 saves on the season and has allowed just one run since his four-run implosion against the Angels back in mid-June. The veteran closer continues to be a reliable closer out of the bullpen, and he has hopefully put a tough June behind him. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:29 pm
