      Advice: Maeda got tagged early as he gave up all four runs in the first two frames, with the three-run homer to Jose Altuve being the costly hit. He managed to settle in as he faced the minimum nine hitters over the next three frames to get through five innings. Maeda has now given up at least four runs in five of his 11 starts this season.       Rodriguez (8-2) earned the win against the Phillies on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings.

      Advice: Rodriguez allowed runs on an RBI double by Alec Bohm in the first inning and a solo home run by Edmundo Sosa in the second but rebounded with five scoreless frames to earn his third consecutive win. This was the first time Rodriguez completed seven innings in a start this season, but he has pitched into the sixth in all but two of his 12 starts so far.       Grayson Rodriguez allowed two runs with six strikeouts over seven innings in a win over the Phillies on Saturday.

      Advice: Rodriguez got two quick outs to start the game, but gave up a single and a double that would bring a run in to score for the Phillies in the first. Edmundo Sosa then led off the second inning with a solo homer. Rodriguez settled in to retire ten consecutive batters until working around a single in a scoreless fifth inning. He got into trouble in the sixth with runners on second and third with two outs. Rodriguez got Sosa to strike out swinging to escape the jam, his sixth strikeout on the day. He’d toss one more scoreless frame to complete seven innings for the win.       Diaz gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his sixth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Padres.

      Advice: A leadoff single by Jurickson Profar and a stolen base by pinch runner Jose Azocar created another nervous ninth for the Mets, but Diaz buckled down after that and fanned Manny Machado and Jake Cronenworth to preserve the win. Diaz's velocity appears to be all the way back -- his fastest pitch Friday hit 100 mph -- and he's looked to be in just about peak form in two appearances since recovering from a shoulder impingement.       Advice: Ragans had just one bad inning -- he gave up a two-run home run to Miguel Rojas and a solo shot to Chris Taylor in the fifth. Aside from that, it was smooth sailing for the southpaw, who earned his fifth quality start in his last six outings, though he has just two wins in that span. The Royals' ace is now at a 3.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 102:26 K:BB over 86 innings across 15 starts this season. He's given up more than three runs just twice, with both of those games being seven-run mishaps, so he's often been even more dominant than his surface stats would suggest.       Cole Ragans picked up no-decision after allowing three runs in seven innings of work against the Dodgers on Friday.

      Advice: Ragans struck out four and walked one. He scattered six hits allowed, but two of those were homers from Miguel Rojas and Chris Taylor. Even with the roundtrippers it’s another quality outing from the 26-year-old, albeit one that doesn’t come with many strikeouts nor a win.     • Edwin Díaz finally gets a save
      Edwin Díaz pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Mets to earn the save on Friday against the Padres. He struck out two and stranded a runner on third base.

      Advice: Díaz and the Mets really needed this one. You could hear a pin drop in Citi Field when Jurickson Profar led off the inning with a single, but Díaz was able to work around it for his first save in 39 days. He also hit a true 100 MPH for the first time this season as he looks to get back into a groove as the Mets’ closer. Rotoworld Friday, 8:14 pm

      Diaz (2-1) struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Thursday to pick up the win over the Marlins.

      Advice: The right-hander looked good in his first appearance since May 25, topping out at 99.6 mph with his fastball. Diaz had been on the IL with a shoulder impingement before being activated Thursday, but he hadn't been his usual dominant self even before getting shut down -- so far in 2024 he has a 16.7 percent whiff rate, one of the lowest marks of his career and a massive drop from the 25.2 percent rate he delivered in 2022. While his results were impressive Thursday, Diaz managed only two swinging strikes on 15 pitches, suggesting that he may not be fully back in form yet. Rotowire.com Friday, 8:49 am

      Pfaadt (3-5) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight.

      Advice: Pfaadt allowed the leadoff man to reach base in two of his first three innings, but escaped unscathed via double plays on each occasion. He would then surrender an RBI single to Mickey Moniak in the fourth before going on to log his seventh quality start of the campaign. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last six outings, going 2-2 over that stretch. Pfaadt's also recorded at least seven strikeouts in four of his last six starts.
