    • Shifted to 60-day IL
Matz (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Advice: The Cardinals had to clear up a spot on the 40-man roster for Gordon Graceffo to be called up and opted to push Matz to the 60-day IL to create the opening. Considering Matz was put on the injured list May 3, his move to the 60-day injured list won't impact his timeline for return. The 33-year-old was shut down from throwing for two weeks June 22. • Sent back to Memphis
The Cardinals optioned Leahy to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Advice: After giving up two runs in three innings against Atlanta on Wednesday, Leahy was removed from the active roster in favor of Gordon Graceffo. Leahy had been with the Cardinals since May 3, earning a 3.67 ERA over 27 innings. Rotowire.com 15 minutes ago

    • Steven Matz shifted to 60-day injured list
Cardinals transferred LHP Steven Matz from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Matz is just two days away from being eligible to come off the 60-day IL, so this is irrelevant to him. He recently had a setback with this strained back and probably won’t be an option before late July at the earliest. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

    • Receives outright assignment
Brentz cleared waivers and was assigned to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Friday.

Advice: Brentz was dropped from the Royals' 40-man roster Monday, and after going unclaimed, will stick in the organization at Double-A. The 29-year-old has surrendered 29 earned runs over 17.2 combined innings across Double-A and Triple-A this season. Rotowire.com 20 minutes ago

    • Royals outright Jake Brentz to Double-A
Royals sent LHP Jake Brentz outright to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Advice: Brentz has a 12.71 ERA and has walked 30 in 17 innings in the minors, so there was little doubt that he’d clear waivers. A promising reliever for the Royals a few years back, he’s had a really tough time making his way back from Tommy John. This is his first outright, so he can’t declare free agency. • Red Sox bring up Bailey Horn for MLB debut
Red Sox recalled LHP Bailey Horn from Triple-A Worcester.

Advice: He fills the roster spot opened up with Isaiah Campbell was sent down Thursday. Horn opened this year in the White Sox organization, but after giving up 13 runs in 10 1/3 innings for Triple-A Charlotte, he was dropped from the 40-man and claimed by Boston. He immediately turned things around afterwards, posting a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings for Worcester, and now he’ll presumably get to make his major league debut at age 26. Rotoworld 23 minutes ago

    • Brewers outright Joel Kuhnel to Triple-A
Brewers sent RHP Joel Kuhnel outright to Triple-A Nashville.

Advice: Kuhnel opted for free agency and signed with the Brewers when the Blue Jays outrighted him earlier this month. He could choose free agency again after not pitching in his one day in the majors with Milwaukee. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago

    • Orioles place Corbin Burnes on paternity list
Orioles placed RHP Corbin Burnes on the paternity list.

Advice: All this meant is that the Orioles will benefit from having an extra reliever for the next two or three days. Burnes defeated the Rangers last night and isn’t slated to make his next start until Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 11:20 am

    • Orioles recall LHP Matt Krook
Orioles recalled LHP Matt Krook from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: If he pitches, Krook will be making his Orioles debut, and hopefully he’ll get to lower his 24.75 career ERA that he accrued in four appearances with the Yankees last year. He had a 3.71 ERA and a 31/17 K/BB in 26 2/3 innings for Norfolk. Rotoworld Today, 11:18 am
