X-rays came back negative on Moreno's thumb following Friday's game against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.
Advice: Moreno hurt his thumb on a slide early in Friday's contest but remained in the game long enough to tally his third homer of the season. He was ultimately pulled in the sixth inning. Manager Torey Lovullo noted after the contest that Moreno is likely to avoid the injured list but would have to see how he is feeling Saturday before any final determination is made. Diamondbacks’ manager Torey Lovullo told reporters after Friday’s game that X-rays came back negative for any structural damage on the injured thumb of catcher Gabriel Moreno.
Advice: Lovullo is hopeful that Moreno will be able to avoid a stint on the injured list but noted that he’ll have to wait and see how he’s feeling on Saturday morning to make a full determination. In the meantime, expect Tucker Barnhart to draw a start behind the plate on Saturday. Rotoworld16 minutes ago
Josh Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double, single, and two RBI on Friday against the Blue Jays.
Advice: Naylor, known for hitting the ball hard, started the Guardians seven-run second inning with an 11 pitch at-bat that wound up as a cheap double and ended the rally with a dribbler that plated two runs. But hey, that’s baseball. Naylor seems to be heating up with hits in nine of his last 11 games. Rotoworld57 minutes ago
The Diamondbacks announced that Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday’s game due to a sprained left thumb.
Advice: The severity of the sprain — and how much time (if any) that Moreno may miss — remain up in the air. Tucker Barnhart replaced him in Friday’s contest against the Phillies and would be in line for increased run behind the plate if Moreno is forced to miss any substantial time. RotoworldToday, 6:05 pm
Moreno exited Friday's game against the Phillies due to a sprained left thumb.
Advice: Tucker Barnhart replaced Moreno behind home plate for the bottom of the sixth inning. Before exiting, Moreno went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. Clarity on the severity of Moreno's injury will be known following Friday's contest. Rotowire.comToday, 6:04 pm
Gabriel Moreno was removed from Friday’s game against the Phillies due to an apparent injury.
Advice: No word yet on exactly what happened here, but the 24-year-old backstop was replaced by Tucker Barnhart when the Diamondbacks took the field in the sixth inning. Earlier in the game, Moreno crushed the hardest hit ball of his career — a titanic 433-foot (104.6 mph EV) blast to center field. Stay tuned, as the Diamondbacks should have an update on his status shortly. RotoworldToday, 6:00 pm
David Fry is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Blue Jays.
Advice: After lighting the world on fire for a couple of weeks at the plate, Fry has fallen on hard times since the calendar flipped to June — hitting just .208/.269/.292 with zero homers, three RBI and a 10/3 K/BB ratio over 52 plate appearances in his last 12 games. Austin Hedges will function as the Guardians’ catcher on Friday night and will bat ninth against Yariel Rodriguez and the Blue Jays. RotoworldToday, 1:32 pm
Fry is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays.
Advice: After making three straight starts -- one at catcher, two at DH -- Fry will take a seat Friday. Steven Kwan will DH and lead off while Austin Hedges catches and bats ninth. After batting .383 with seven homers in May, Fry has cooled off significantly in June, batting .208 without a home run in 52 plate appearances. Rotowire.comToday, 1:20 pm
O'Hearn went 2-for-5 with a walk and four RBI in Thursday's 17-5 win over the Yankees.
Advice: O'Hearn logged his third multi-hit effort in his last four contests. The lefty slugger is batting .358 (19-for-53) with 12 RBI over 16 games in June. He's up to a .289/.347/.477 slash line with nine home runs, 30 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases and eight doubles over 59 games. O'Hearn will continue to play in a strong-side platoon role with few opportunities to step into the lineup versus southpaws. Rotowire.comYesterday, 11:26 pm
