    • Lively gives up four in loss to Blue Jays Sunday
      Ben Lively allowed four runs in four innings and got the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday.



      Advice: Lively gave up six hits, walked three and struck out four. He had won his last five starts. Lively had allowed two runs through the first four innings. He was removed after walking Spencer Horwitz and Davis Schneider to begin the fifth inning. Both runners scored on Daulton Varsho’s grand slam off Nick Sandlin. Lively isn’t as good as his 3.02 ERA suggests given his 4.15 xFIP. He’s benefited greatly from an 85 percent left on base percentage and that caught it up with him a little bit on Sunday. He’s still been a really good find off the waiver wire for fantasy managers. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Blue Jays at home next week.

      Clase struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: After catching Vladimir Guerrero looking on a third strike, Clase coaxed routine groundballs from Bo Bichette and Justin Turner to end the game. The right-hander has converted eight straight save chances, posting a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB through 10 innings over that stretch, and Clase sits two back of the Cardinals' Ryan Helsley for the major-league saves lead.       Emmanuel Clase pitched a perfect ninth against the Blue Jays for his 21st save Friday.

      Advice: Facing the team he made his debut with back in 2010, Kimbrel delivered his 12th straight appearance without allowing an earned run.       Assad did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

      Advice: Assad opened with two scoreless frames then allowed a run in the third on a double by Isaac Paredes and another on a solo home run by Jose Siri in the fourth. With two runners on and two outs in the fifth, Assad was pulled at 90 pitches with a 2-1 deficit. Since his last win on May 15, Assad has failed to reach six innings or record a win in five straight outings and has seen his ERA climb from 1.49 to 2.81.       Javier Assad was lifted after allowing two runs in 4 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Rays.

      Advice: Tyson Miller stranded two runners after taking over for Assad in the fifth. The issue won't result in Lively's turn being skipped, but he'll be pushed back in the schedule and given a full week off before stepping back into the rotation.
