The soft-tossing 34-year-old veteran is too risky to trust in shallow mixed leagues in the wake of his early-season struggles, but he’s making the most of his opportunity to step back into Chicago’s injury-ravaged starting rotation.       Patrick Corbin pitched well in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, racking up seven strikeouts over five innings of one-run baseball.

The lone tally against him came as Corbin issued a one-out walk to Gabriel Moreno with the bases loaded in the third inning. Still, he managed to keep the Nats off the board completely until Jesse Winker’s go-ahead two-run shot in the sixth inning. Pfaadt didn’t get a single swing and miss on any of his 77 pitches in the contest, registering an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent. However, he only built up to 68 pitches during his time in the minors, so he will likely be working under some sort of restriction during his return to a big-league mound.
