Bobby Witt Jr. steals 20th base of year in victory
Bobby Witt Jr. stole a base while going 2-for-5 in a victory for the Royals over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Advice: Witt Jr. also drove in a run with his single in the seventh, and it gave the Royals a 6-2 cushion. The star shortstop’s theft gives him 20 on the season, and there’s a good chance he’s going to pass the 49 swipes that he picked up in 2023. No one has helped fantasy managers fill categories more than Witt Jr. in 2024. Rotoworld35 minutes ago
Jackson Merrill went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.
Advice: Merrill launched a 411-foot blast against Jose Quintana for his seventh home run of the season. The rookie now has four home runs in his last three games. All of them have also been solo shots. Merrill was billed as primarily a batting average asset who wouldn’t provide much power, so it’s nice to see him starting to show some pop. Even pushing 15-20 home runs in a season would be a big boost to his fantasy value. RotoworldToday, 6:31 pm
Sosa went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-2 loss to the Orioles on Saturday.
Advice: Sosa gave the Phillies an early 2-0 lead when he homered off Grayson Rodriguez in the second inning. Sosa hit .306 in May with three home runs, but he has gone just 8-for-37 with one long ball in June. According to Matt Gelb of The Athletic, Trea Turner's return is looming, which means Sosa will likely return to a bench role in the coming days. Rotowire.comToday, 5:54 pm
Edmundo Sosa went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Orioles on Saturday.
Advice: Sosa led off the second inning with a solo shot off Grayson Rodriguez for the second of two runs the Phillies would score on the day. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting a solid .280/.343/.512 with five homers, 24 runs scored, 19 RBI, and two steals across 138 plate appearances as he fills in for Trea Turner at shortstop. Oneil Cruz (ankle) remains out of the Pirates’ starting lineup for Saturday night’s showdown against the Rockies.
Advice: It’s the second straight game that the dynamic 25-year-old shortstop has missed at Coors Field due to a sore ankle. The encouraging sign is that is still hasn’t been placed on the injured list, so the Pirates still believe that it’s truly a day-to-day type of situation. Jared Triolo will once again start in his place and will bat eighth against Rockies’ southpaw Ty Blach. RotoworldToday, 3:27 pm
Cruz (ankle) isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Colorado.
Advice: Cruz was a late scratch from Friday's lineup with left ankle soreness and will take a seat once again Saturday. Jared Triolo will draw another start at shortstop and bat eighth for the Pirates. Rotowire.comToday, 3:24 pm
Lopez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Advice: The White Sox will turn to Danny Mendick at second base Saturday with southpaw Tommy Henry expected to pitch in bulk relief for Arizona. Lopez is batting .244 with a pair of RBI over 10 games in June. Rotowire.comToday, 3:15 pm
Smith (undisclosed) is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus the Mariners, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Advice: Smith will miss a second straight game as he nurses "general tightness." Ezequiel Duran will draw the start at third base while Robbie Grossman enters the lineup at designated hitter and bats seventh against Seattle. Rotowire.comToday, 1:35 pm
