      Paxton (7-2) allowed nine runs on 12 hits and two walks over four innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Giants.

      Advice: Paxton gave up four runs through three frames before the Giants piled on with a five-run fourth inning. The veteran southpaw had a very odd month of June; he gave up six earned runs in 1.2 innings against the Pirates on June 5 but allowed just two total runs over his next three outings before Sunday's unraveling. Overall, he posted a 6.46 ERA this month, raising his season mark to 4.28 through 15 starts. Paxton's next start is currently lined up to be at home against the Brewers.       Hendricks (1-6) took the loss Sunday against the Brewers, surrendering seven earned runs on seven hits and one walk in 3.2 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Hendricks kept the Brewers off the scoreboard over the first three innings before a disastrous fourth inning in which he gave up seven earned runs, including a grand slam to Brice Turang. The 34-year-old veteran was enjoying a renaissance in June, pitching to a 1.27 ERA, a 0.80 WHIP, and a 16:4 K:BB across 21.1 innings before Sunday's disaster. The right-hander will have to go back to the drawing board to improve his ugly 7.48 ERA. His next start is tentatively scheduled for next weekend against the Angels.     • Big Maple gets lit up Sunday in loss to Giants
      James Paxton was torched for nine runs on 12 hits over four innings on Sunday in a loss to the Giants.

      Advice: Paxton gave up a couple early runs before the metaphorical wheels came off completely in the fourth inning when he was obliterated for five runs on four hits, including a two-run homer by Matt Chapman, and one free pass. The dozen hits allowed were a career-high for Paxton, who struck out four and handed out a pair of walks as well. The 35-year-old southpaw had allowed just two runs combined across 16 innings of work over his previous three starts dating back to June 11.       Waldron (5-7) took the loss Sunday against the Red Sox. He gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits, one walk and three strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

      Advice: Waldron was plagued by the long ball, as he allowed two homers in a start for the first time this season. He snapped a streak of nine straight starts in which he allowed two runs or fewer. The knuckleballer has been a revelation for the Padres rotation this season, and he'll take a 3.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into his next start vs. the Diamondbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 2:21 pm

      Advice: Hendricks gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out three. Hendricks cruised through the first three innings without allowing a run and then couldn’t make it out of the fourth inning. He gave up a two-run home run to Christian Yelich and an RBI single to Sal Frelick before the Brice Turang grand slam with two outs chased him from the game. Hendricks’ ERA is 7.48 and he’s won only one of his 10 starts for the Cubs. He’s too hittable at this point of his career to be usable in fantasy. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Angels at home next weekend.

      Matt Waldron yielded four runs — three earned — in 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Red Sox.

      Advice: Waldron didn’t seem to have his best knuckler today, and the Red Sox wound up with eight hard-hit balls against him, including a pair of homers.       Doval (3-1) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over over inning, blowing a save but earning the win Friday over the Dodgers.

      Advice: Doval allowed a triple to Andy Pages, who came home on a Jason Heyward sacrifice fly that tied the game at 3-3 in the ninth inning. The Giants then got a walk-off home run from Brett Wisely to make Doval the pitcher of record despite his poor outing. He's given up nine runs over nine innings in June, though a pair of four-run meltdowns account for much of that damage.       Camilo Doval gave up a run and blew a save Friday, but picked up the win against the Dodgers.

      Advice: Doval gets the win because the stat is flawless and baseball is a fair and just sport. The right-hander gave up a triple to James Outman, and a sac fly from Jason Heyward tied the game at 3-3.       Taillon (4-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk over six innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against Milwaukee.

      Advice: Taillon worked through three shutout frames before coughing up a grand slam to Jackson Chourio in the fourth inning. Taillon is now 1-2 over his last four starts despite registering a 2.16 ERA during that stretch. He's given up three or fewer earned runs in all but one of his 13 starts this season.
