    • Blake Snell is headed to the paternity list
Padres place LHP Blake Snell on the paternity list.

Advice: Congratulations to Blake and his family. The left-hander will miss the next few games to be with his partner and should return in time to face the Phillies. Perhaps they will be kind to the new father as he looks to lower his 11.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP. Nick Avila was called up in a corresponding move. Rotoworld Today, 9:00 am

    • Goes on paternity leave
The Giants placed Snell on the paternity list Thursday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Snell will be off the active roster for a few days while welcoming a new baby, but he's expected to rejoin the Giants in time for his next start, which is slated for Monday against the Phillies at Oracle Park. Reliever Nick Avila was called up from Double-A Richmond to take over Snell's spot on the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am

    • Pulls Marlins to win
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Brewers.

Advice: Chisholm clubbed a leadoff homer in the first inning off Freddy Peralta, a long ball that ended up being the difference. In his last 16 games, Chisholm is batting .308 with three home runs, 13 runs and four stolen bases. The 26-year-old is one of seven players with at least seven long balls and nine stolen bases, joining Elly De La Cruz, Bobby Witt, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker on the exclusive list. • Loses control in fourth
Snell didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks across 3.1 innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Snell looked sharp to begin his first start after a month-long IL stint, keeping the Pirates scoreless after three frames. However, the 31-year-old crumbled in the fourth inning, yielding two walks, a hit-by-pitch and an infield single to let a run score and leave the bases loaded with one out for Sean Hjelle. Hjelle gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced and pushed Snell's earned run total to four. Snell hasn't completed five innings in a start this season and is 0-3 with an 11.40 ERA through 15.0 innings. He's projected for a home start against the Phillies on Monday. • Homers in win
Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Bichette's power has been largely absent this season -- this was just his third homer of the season through 45 contests. Two of them have come over the last 10 games, a span in which he's hitting .351 (13-for-37) with seven RBI and four doubles. The shortstop is slashing a middling .233/.289/.349 with 19 RBI, 15 runs scored, four stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple through 187 plate appearances, though he's starting to turn things around. • Bo Bichette homers in win over White Sox
Bo Bichette went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 9-2 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Bichette’s numbers continue to improve after a cold start. He added two hits on Wednesday, including a two-run homer off Nick Nastrini in the second inning. He added another run for the Blue Jays in the fourth with a base hit to score Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 26-year-old shortstop is now hitting .233/.289/.349 with three homers, 19 RBI, and four steals across 187 plate appearances. • Blake Snell gives up four runs in loss to Pirates
Blake Snell had mixed results in his return from the injured list on Wednesday, giving up four runs on four hits over 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Advice: On the plus side for fantasy managers, Snell piled up five strikeouts on the evening, but he also issued four free passes. He kept the Pirates’ offense off the board through the first three frames but ran into serious trouble in the fourth. There, he loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an infield single, then plunked Andrew McCutchen to force in a run. He then turned the ball over to the bullpen — who immediately gave up a grand slam to allow all three inherited runners to score. Snell got an impressive 15 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the night — nine on his heater — while posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll look to improve upon a cringe-inducing 11.40 ERA and 2.07 WHIP when he does battle against the Phillies on Monday in San Francisco. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:06 pm

    • Fans career-high 12 in win
Ragans (4-3) picked up the win in Wednesday's 8-3 victory over the Tigers, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out 12.

Advice: A clash with fellow star southpaw Tarik Skubal brought out the best in Ragans, who fanned a career-high 12 batters and generated a whopping 35 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches. The 26-year-old has reeled off 13 straight shutout innings over his last two starts, and he'll take a 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 76:21 K:BB through 62 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Minnesota. • Jazz Chisholm hits solo homer in win
Jazz Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Wednesday against the Brewers.

Advice: Chisholm’s first-inning home run wound up being the only run scored in the pitcher’s duel between Jesús Luzardo and Freddy Peralta. That was his second lead-off home run this season and the seventh of his career as he’s very casually up to seven homers and nine steals on the campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:49 pm
