      Ryan Helsley fired a scoreless ninth inning on Thursday against the Giants to record his major league-leading 25th save of the season.

      Advice: Helsley was summoned to protect a narrow one-run lead at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama and made things interesting by issuing a leadoff walk to Trenton Brooks and surrendering a two-out single to Patrick Bailey, which put the potential tying run in scoring position. He managed to wriggle out of the jam by striking out Matt Chapman to extinguish the threat. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty has converted 25 of 26 save chances this season to go along with a sparkling 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 38/13 K/BB ratio across 33 innings (33 appearances).       Adam (4-1) didn't allow a baserunner and struck out one to earn the win Wednesday against the Twins.

      Advice: Adam entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied, 2-2, and turned in his eighth scoreless performance in his last 10 appearances. He has a 9:1 K:BB in that span, though he has allowed three earned runs. While Pete Fairbanks (thumb) isn't expected to be sidelined long, Adam could get a short-term look in save scenarios.       Yates earned a save against the Mets on Wednesday, striking out one batter in a perfect ninth inning.

      Advice: Yates protected a two-run Texas lead in the top of the ninth frame, retiring the side in order on 16 pitches. The veteran reliever is a perfect 11-for-11 in save chances this season -- no closer in baseball has converted more saves without blowing any opportunities.       Cole Ragans allowed two runs with seven strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Athletics on Wednesday.

      Advice: Ragans worked around three hits through two scoreless innings before the A’s brought a pair of runs in to score on two walks and two singles in the third. Ragans settled in to toss three more scoreless innings, striking out seven before his day was done. He took the loss as the Royals scored just one run in the contest.       Megill struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Angels.

      Advice: Megill needed just seven pitches (six strikes) against the middle of the Angels' order to close out this contest. He's pitched four of the last five days, but he's thrown just 12 pitches over his last two outings. He's now 15-for-16 in save chances with a 2.01 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB through 22.1 innings this season. If Megill is unavailable for Thursday's series opener versus the Padres due to his recent workload, a potential save chance would likely go to Joel Payamps or Hoby Milner.       Advice: Cole surrendered a run on an RBI double by Ryan O'Hearn in the first inning then settled in over the next three frames. He allowed a single to Cedric Mullins to open the fifth and was pulled after throwing 62 pitches, but Mullins scored on a home run surrendered by Yankees reliever Ron Marinaccio. Cole maxed out at 68 pitches during his minor-league rehab assignment, so the Yankees seemed to ease him back in for his 2024 MLB debut.       Gerrit Cole lasted for four-plus innings in his return to the Yankees on Wednesday against the Orioles. He struck out five, walked one, and allowed two earned runs in a loss.

      Advice: Cole was not his sharpest, understandably, in this one. The Orioles are a tough matchup and they made lots of loud contact as Cole struggled with command, especially with his knuckle curve.
