    • CJ Abrams day-to-day after MRI on left wrist
CJ Abrams is day-to-day after an MRI this week revealed a Ganglion cyst on his left palm near his wrist.

Advice: Nationals manager Dave Martinez told reporters Thursday that it isn’t a serious concern. We’re not medical professionals, but a Ganglion cyst is basically a non-cancerous lump that appears along the joints of the wrists or hands. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward as the issue mighty simply go away on its own, but it’s something Abrams will have to manage going forward. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Abrams back in Washington’s lineup at some point in the coming days. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:49 pm

    • Royce Lewis homers again versus Tampa Bay
Royce Lewis homered and walked twice against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: Of course he homered. That’s already the ninth homer of the season for Lewis; a solid number for a first half of season, but even more impressive when you remember he’s only played 15 games. The 2017 first-overall pick has been remarkable when healthy enough to play, and his 2024 slash is a scorching .385/.459/.942. That’s obviously not sustainable, but he has the talent to be an elite fantasy player as long as he can stay on the field. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:28 pm
    • Day-to-day following MRI on wrist
Abrams is considered day-to-day after an MRI revealed a ganglion cyst on his left wrist, Spencer Nusbaum of The Washington Post reports.

Advice: A ganglion cyst is a noncancerous lump which is commonly found on the tendons or joints of the wrists and hands. While the cyst has caused Abrams some discomfort, it's something that will often clear on its own. The shortstop could be back in the lineup this weekend in Colorado. • Nolan Jones (illness) remains out of the lineup
Nolan Jones (illness) is not in the Rockies lineup on Thursday against the Dodgers.

Advice: Jones will miss his second straight game with an illness as Sean Bouchard fills in for him in left field and bats second. Jones has looked better since coming off the IL, going 5-for-13 (.385) with one stolen base and just two strikeouts to eight walks. The plate discipline improvements are really nice to see and there might still be a buy low window here before he returns to the lineup from this bout of sickness. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:00 pm

    • Out again with illness
Jones (illness) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Advice: Jones will take a seat for the second day in a row while he recovers from an illness. Sean Bouchard will fill in for Jones in left field while batting second. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:47 am

    • Plates pair in Wednesday's win
Rooker went 2-for-3 with two RBI singles and a walk in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Advice: Rooker's timely hitting led to two of the Athletics' five runs, with the veteran driving home JJ Bleday in the third and seventh innings with his pair of singles. Rooker has now hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, but a 42.9 percent strikeout rate has helped lead to a lackluster .211/.262/.368 slash line in that same span. • Not in Thursday's lineup
Abrams (wrist) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Abrams was scratched from the lineup ahead of Wednesday's 3-1 win and was set to undergo an MRI on his left wrist. The results of his imaging haven't been revealed, but Abrams will miss a second straight start Thursday. The Nationals should have more information on the Abrams' condition before long. Ildemaro Vargas will fill in for Abrams at shortstop. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:25 am

    • CJ Abrams (wrist) remains out of lineup Thursday
CJ Abrams (wrist) is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Abrams was scratched from the lineup on Wednesday, and then it was revealed that he was headed for an MRI on his left wrist. There seems to be minimal concern right now, but there is also minimal information, so it’s unclear how long Abrams may be sidelined. For Thursday, Ildemaro Vargas will start at shortstop. • Homers again Wednesday
Lewis went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in an extra-inning loss to the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: Lewis racked up three of the Twins' nine hits and accounted for their final run of the contest with a solo shot to left field in the fifth inning. The 25-year-old third baseman continues to swing a potent bat, as he's gone deep eight times across just 57 plate appearances this season. He doesn't have nearly enough plate appearances to qualify, but Lewis' .848 slugging percentage on the season would lead MLB by a wide margin if he did. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:15 pm
