    • Brent Rooker doubles in loss
Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a double on Wednesday against the Angels.

Advice: The Athletics keep losing, but Rooker keeps hitting. The double was his 32nd extra-base hit of the season and his OPS has climbed up to .845, 20th in the league among qualified players. Rooker could be in for a monster second-half if the A’s decide to trade him before the deadline. Rotoworld 50 minutes ago

    • Nolan Jones doubles, scores run in losing effort
Nolan Jones went 1-for-2 with a double on Wednesday in the Rockies’ loss to the Astros.

Advice: It’s been a tough season for Jones on the heels of last year’s unexpected breakthrough campaign, but he’s starting to show some signs of life recently, hitting .279 (12-for-43) with one homer and one steal over his last 15 games. The fact that he’s starting to hit for a little bit of power is an encouraging sign after injuries derailed the first few months of the season for him. Rotoworld Today, 1:59 pm

    • Connor Wong (paternity) expected back on Friday
Red Sox’ manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Connor Wong is expected to return from the paternity list on Friday.

Advice: The hard-hitting backstop missed the first half of the week to attend the birth of his child, but expect him to be right back behind the dish for Friday’s series opener against the Padres. The 28-year-old backstop has been a force at the plate this season, slashing .330/.390/.480 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases in 223 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 1:17 pm

    • Takes swings in batting cage
Casas (ribs) took approximately 20 swings in the batting cage Wednesday at about 75 percent effort, Molly Burkhardt of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Casas resumed hitting for the first time since he was diagnosed with a cartilage tear in his left ribcage in late April. He said he felt great during the workout, but he noted that the real test will be to see how sore he is Thursday. If Casas isn't experiencing too much discomfort Thursday, he could be cleared to start hitting off a tee. Casas undoubtedly will require a rehab assignment before returning from the 60-day injured list, and it's uncertain when he might be ready for game action. Rotowire.com Today, 12:36 pm

    • Triston Casas (rib) swings in cage for first time
Triston Casas, coming back from torn rib cartilage, swung in a cage without incident Wednesday.

Advice: The Red Sox haven’t talked about what Casas’s MRI showed, but the fact that he was allowed in the cage today indicates that it was good news. Casas will see how he feels tomorrow, but an early July return seems possible here. Rotoworld Today, 12:28 pm

    • Receiving afternoon off
Langeliers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Advice: Langeliers will get a breather after he had started behind the plate in each of the Athletics' previous three contests. Kyle McCann will step in at catcher, forming a battery with right-hander Joey Estes. Rotowire.com Today, 11:28 am

    • Pilfers 14th bag in win
Chisholm went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's win over the Royals.

Advice: Despite the sparse stat line, Chisholm played a key role in the victory -- he smashed an infield single back at Will Smith in the seventh inning, and Nick Gordon came home with the winning run on the southpaw's throwing error. Chisholm has had a productive June so far, slashing .286/.338/.414 through 21 contests with two of his 10 homers and three of his 14 steals on the season. Rotowire.com Today, 8:05 am

    • Fades late in Tuesday's win
Keller (9-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's 9-5 victory over the Reds, giving up four runs (three runs) on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

Advice: An Oneil Cruz error and a hit by pitch helped load the bases in the third inning, but Keller escaped the jam by striking out Jeimer Candelario and Spencer Steer. The right-hander seemed to run out of gas after that, eventually getting tagged for three runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth as he fell short of his 10th quality start of the season. Keller has still allowed more than three earned runs only once in nine outings since the beginning of May, going 7-1 over that stretch with a 1.85 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 52:12 K:BB through 58.1 innings. He'll look for win No. 10 on the year in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next week against the Cardinals. Rotowire.com Today, 6:15 am

    • Goes yard again Tuesday
Devers went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 9-4 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: He took Kevin Gausman deep in the second inning and nearly did it again in the sixth, but his blast to the deepest part of the center field triangle at Fenway Park ended up being a double due to fan interference. Devers has erupted in June, slashing .300/.359/.625 over 21 games with four doubles, two triples, six homers, 16 RBI and 18 runs. Rotowire.com Today, 6:07 am
