    • Sitting out Saturday
Busch is absent from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Right-hander Andre Pallante is starting for the Cardinals and has reverse splits, so Busch will begin this one on the bench. Cody Bellinger is handling first base and Pete Crow-Armstrong will patrol center field. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:33 am

    • Freddie Freeman drives in go-ahead run in eighth
Freddie Freeman singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to give the Dodgers a 4-3 win over the Royals on Friday.

Advice: With the score tied at 3-3, Freeman drove in a run with an RBI single to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead and ultimately the victory. The 34-year-old has now driven in 42 runs, and nine of those have come in the first half of June. To the surprise of absolutely no one, Freeman remains one of the best first baseman — and hitters regardless of position — in the sport. Rotoworld Friday, 9:19 pm

    • Aiming for return next Thursday
Wade (hamstring) said Wednesday that he's pushing hard for a return from the 10-day injured list for the Giants' matchup with the Cardinals on June 20 at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Advice: When he was placed on the IL on May 28 with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, Wade was projected to miss four weeks, but the veteran first baseman took batting practice Tuesday and fielded grounders and started some light running Wednesday as he aims to beat his estimated return timeline by one week. Wade acknowledged that if he's able to return for MLB's June 20 Negro Leagues tribute game, he would likely be relegated to designated-hitter duties. The Giants will presumably continue to monitor Wade's progress as he ramps up over the next week before determining if a June 20 return is feasible. The 30-year-old hadn't been a premium source of counting stats prior to being deactivated due to the injury, but he was hitting an impressive .333 while getting on base at a .470 clip through his first 52 games of the season. • LaMonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) resumes running
LaMonte Wade Jr. has started doing some light running in his rehab from a strained left hamstring.

Advice: Wade is hoping to rejoin the Giants lineup in time for next Thursday’s game in Birmingham, though that might be aggressive. He was expected to miss about four weeks after getting hurt May 27. Rotoworld Wednesday, 11:12 am

    • Homers as part of three-hit night
Freeman went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and three runs scored in Tuesday's 15-2 win over the Rangers.

Advice: Freeman's big hit of the night came in the sixth when he went back-to-back with Shohei Ohtani as part of a four-homer inning for the Dodgers. Freeman now has multiple hits in four of nine games this month to go along with three home runs after he totaled just six homers through the end of May. His .401 on-base percentage currently ranks fifth in all of baseball, as he's slashing .297/.401/.498 with 30 extra-base hits, 41 RBI, 43 runs and a 39:49 BB:K in 299 plate appearances. • Slated for BP on Tuesday
Wade (hamstring) will take batting practice Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: Wade resumed baseball activities over the weekend and is almost ready to do some hitting on the field. He's been on the shelf since late May with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain. While Wade looks to be trending in a positive direction, the real test for him will be when he does some running, and it's not clear when he'll be cleared for that. Rotowire.com Monday, 4:03 pm

    • Freddie Freeman doubles twice in blowout win
Freddie Freeman doubled twice and drove home a pair of runs in a blowout win Saturday over the Yankees.

Advice: One of the doubles was a rare misplay from Alex Verdugo, but it still counts in the scoreboard. The 34-year-old now has doubled 19 times on the season while driving in 40 runs. Even with a mediocre May, Freeman’s slash of .293/.399/.488 is awfully hard to complain about. Rotoworld Saturday, 10:04 pm

    • Reaches three times in loss
Busch went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Busch came into the contest in a bit of a slump, as he was just 1-for-10 over his previous six games. Overall, he's slowed down some after a strong start to the season, though he still has a solid .783 OPS and provides decent pop against righties. While Busch continues to generally sit against lefties, he has at least batted .304 (7-for-23) against them when given the opportunity. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:32 am

    • Hitting and throwing
Wade (hamstring) has begun hitting and throwing programs at the Giants' complex in Arizona, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Wade still has plenty of boxes to check off before he can start playing in rehab games, but resuming baseball activities is a step in the right direction. The 30-year-old was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain in late May and still projects to be sidelined until at least the end of June. Rotowire.com Friday, 3:12 pm
