    • Camilo Doval secures seventh save vs. Dodgers
Camilo Doval struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning for the save against the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Advice: Doval was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth. He struck out the first two batters, then walked Mookie Betts before giving up a base hit to Shohei Ohtani. Freddie Freeman grounded out to second base to end the game. Doval is up to seven saves with a 3.18 ERA and 23 strikeouts across 17 innings. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Tanner Houck punches out seven in 5 ⅔ innings
Tanner Houck couldn’t get through the sixth inning against the Rays, but still managed to strike out seven and allow just two earned runs in a loss Wednesday. He also gave up five hits and three walks.

Advice: Houck was humming along until back-to-back singles in the sixth inning sent Alex Cora to the bullpen with Houck at 112 pitches, the highest total of his career. Greg Weissert then allowed both inherited runners to score, spoiling Houck’s chance for a victory. Still solid, he’s looked more mortal in his last three starts with a 3.86 ERA and 20.0 K%. • Jurickson Profar swipes base in loss on Wednesday
Jurickson Profar singled and stole a base on Wednesday afternoon as the Padres were shut out by the Rockies.

Advice: Profar smacked a leadoff single off of Austin Gomber in the fourth inning and swiped second base, but the Padres couldn’t cash him in from there. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a strikeout. On the season, he’s still slashing a robust .322/.412/.513 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Today, 3:52 pm

    • Brandon Pfaadt spins nine-strikeout gem vs. Reds
Brandon Pfaadt recorded nine strikeouts and allowed one run over seven innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Reds.

Advice: Pfaadt surrendered just two hits and a pair of walks over seven frames, trading zeroes with opposing starter Andrew Abbott into the late innings of a throwback pitcher’s duel, with a fifth-inning solo shot by utilityman Santiago Espinal accounting for the only damage against him. The 25-year-old righty generated just eight swinging strikes, but threw an impressive 61 of 93 pitches for strikes. He’ll carry a strong 4.17 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 51/10 K/BB ratio across 54 innings (nine starts) into a challenging road tilt on Tuesday against the division-rival Dodgers. • Runs bases Wednesday
Thomas (knee) ran the bases Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Thomas is running again for the first time since being diagnosed with a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee three weeks ago. Zuckerman notes that Thomas wasn't running at full effort but seemed to be moving at close to 100 percent speed. Running the bases is typically one of the last steps a player coming back from a knee injury takes before embarking on a rehab assignment, though it's not yet clear when Thomas might report to a minor-league affiliate for game action. • Lane Thomas runs the bases before game
Lane Thomas, coming back from a sprained MCL in his left knee, ran the bases at Nationals Park prior to Wednesday’s game.

Advice: MASN’s Mark Zuckerman said he wasn’t quite running at 100 percent but wasn’t all that far below that. Thomas has also been hitting, and barring a setback, he should return before the end of the month. Rotoworld Today, 9:49 am

    • On base four times in loss
Profar went 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Profar notched a base hit in the fourth and worked walks in his other three plate appearances. It's the first time since June 29, 2022 that he's walked three times in one game. Profar has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball thus far and is now 10th in the majors with a .324 batting average and fourth with a .416 OBP after Tuesday night. • Hits monster homer
Stanton went 2-for-5 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Twins.

Advice: Stanton launched a 427-foot homer in the third inning off Chris Paddack for his ninth long ball of 2024. The 34-year-old still owns a huge 34 percent strikeout rate, but he's also carrying a .236 batting average and is slugging .471 -- both would be his best tallies since 2021. Stanton has hit safely in eight of his last nine games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:25 pm
    • Produces lone run
Jeffers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Jeffers gave Minnesota the lead with a solo homer as the team's first batter of the game. However, they wouldn't score another run following Jeffers' round-tripper and Jeffers himself struck out in his final three plate appearances. The catcher has hit double-digit homers in 2024 and is on pace to smash his career high of 14 long balls. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:19 pm
