• Shut down for week
Waldrep (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for one week, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: Waldrep is dealing with right elbow inflammation and he'll now be forced to take a seat for at least a week before attempting to build his activity back up. He was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday after making his second start of the year Sunday versus the Rays, giving up six runs over 3.1 innings. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

  • Jimenez picks up first save against Tigers Monday
Joe Jimenez threw a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Jimenez filled in nicely for Braves closer Raisel Iglesias, who had pitched in three of the last four days. There’s no closer controversy in Atlanta, but Jimenez lowered his ERA on the season to 2.89 with the scoreless inning. Rotoworld 33 minutes ago

  • Oneil Cruz hits two-run single, Pirates edge Reds
Oneil Cruz delivered a two-run single on Monday, lifting the Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the Reds.

Advice: Cruz put the Pirates ahead for good with a two-run single off Reds starter Carson Spiers in the opening frame, which wound up being more than enough run support for young ace Paul Skenes and Pittsburgh’s bullpen in a low-scoring affair at PNC Park. It was somehow the first meeting this season between the longtime division rivals. Cruz hasn’t exactly torn the cover off the ball this season, but he’s shown flashes of the big-time upside that makes him one of the most exciting young players in the game. Rotoworld 35 minutes ago

  • Secures first save
Jimenez struck out one batter in a perfect inning to earn a save over the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Jimenez tossed 10 of 13 pitches for strikes to protect the 2-1 lead and earn his first save of the year. He dropped his season ERA to 2.89 with a 30:10 K:BB through 28 innings. Since yielding four runs in a loss to the Padres on May 20, Jimenez has given up two runs over his last 10 appearances. Raisel Iglesias allowed two runs in a loss to the Rays on Sunday and was likely getting a routine day off Monday. Rotowire.com 35 minutes ago

  • Elly De La Cruz collects 37th steal in Reds’ loss
Elly De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with his 37th stolen base of the season on Monday in the Reds’ loss to the Pirates.

Advice: De La Cruz was one of the few bright spots in this one as Cincinnati’s offense was almost completely shut down by Pirates rookie ace Paul Skenes into the late innings of the first meeting between the two division rivals this year. The 22-year-old middle infielder remains on pace to steal roughly 80 bases this season as he’s picked it up on the bases recently, notching at least one theft in three straight contests. • David Bednar silences Reds to notch 15th save
David Bednar tossed a perfect frame on Monday against the Reds to record his 15th save of the season.

Advice: Bednar was summoned to protect a three-run lead in the final frame and required just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to spin a flawless frame. It was a nice rebound effort for the 29-year-old stopper after giving up solo homers in each of his previous two appearances. He’s converted 15 of his 18 save opportunities on the year. • Paul Skenes dominates again in seven-strikeout gem
Paul Skenes struck out seven and allowed one run over six innings on Monday in a win over the Reds.

Advice: Skenes got into trouble in the opening frame when he surrendered a run-scoring double to Spencer Steer, but managed to escape the frame without any additional damage, and went on to limit Cincinnati’s lineup to just five baserunners over his final five innings of work. The electrifying 22-year-old rookie induced an eye-popping 18 swinging strikes in this one, including nine on his splinker alone, and finished with a near-elite 34 percent CSW. He’s recorded at least seven strikeouts in six of his first seven starts since arriving in the majors back in mid-May. He’s the real deal. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.29 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 53/7 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a favorable matchup on Sunday against the strikeout-prone Rays. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

  • Riley smacks two doubles in win over Tigers Monday
Austin Riley went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored against the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: Riley is now 8-for-13 (.615) with three doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and two walks over his last four games. He’s had a down season so far, but seems to be pulling out of it. Riley’s average is up to .243 with a .712 OPS on the year. Rotoworld 36 minutes ago

  • Carson Spiers hurls six frames in loss to Pirates
Carson Spiers surrendered four runs over six innings on Monday in a loss to the Pirates.

Advice: Spiers held his own in this one, but was simply out-dueled by Pirates sensation Paul Skenes, who limited Cincinnati’s lineup to just one run over six frames. The 26-year-old righty put together the longest outing of his career to date, which is impressive since he was seemingly on the ropes in the opening frame when Pittsburgh got to him for three runs. He struck out five and only handed out one free pass. It’s unclear whether he’ll get another turn in the Reds’ starting rotation, but he’s in line to take the ball on Sunday afternoon against the Red Sox. Rotoworld 37 minutes ago
