• Demotion could be coming
Julien had a meeting with manager Rocco Baldelli and subsequently met with teammates after Sunday's win over the Astros, which could indicate the second baseman is headed to Triple-A St. Paul as Royce Lewis (quadriceps) is set to return from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Julien hit out of the No. 9 hole Sunday and went 0-for-2 with a walk, which dropped his season slash line to .207/.309/.367 through 58 games. The 25-year-old has a 34 percent strikeout rate this year, and the return of Lewis provides an opportunity for Julien to get back on track in a lower-pressure environment. The Twins have yet to make an official announcement regarding Lewis and who he'll replace on the MLB roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:12 pm
  • Adolis García homers in win over Marlins
Adolis García went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Marlins on Sunday.

Advice: García took a sixth-inning offering from Trevor Rogers and hit it 395 feet at 108.2 mph for his 13th home run on the season. He also added an RBI earlier in the game and now has 40 RBI on the year, which has helped prop up a disappointing .231/.285/.462 slash line. As a free-swinger, García has always seemed at risk for batting average regression, and it’s possible he won’t match last year’s .245 batting average, but the power remains a true asset. • Victor Caratini homers in loss to Twins
Victor Caratini, starting behind the plate for Houston for the third time in four games, hit his fourth homer Sunday against the Twins.

Advice: He nearly had a second; his 401-foot fly to right-center in the seventh would have been a homer in 20 ballparks, according to Statcast. We still like Yainer Díaz, but Caratini is certainly one of the game’s top-30 catchers and really should have landed a starting job as a free agent over the winter. He’ll probably continue to cut into Díaz’s playing time in at least the short-term, making Díaz expendable in one-catcher shallow leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:21 pm
  • Red Sox place Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) on IL
Red Sox placed INF Vaughn Grissom on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: Grissom injured the hamstring during the second inning of Saturday’s game, and it was expected that the 23-year-old would need a stint on the injured list. There’s no word on when Grissom will be back, but for now, Bobby Dalbec is up from Triple-A to take his place on the roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:41 am

  • Red Sox select contract of INF Jamie Westbrook
Red Sox selected the contract of INF Jamie Westbrook.

Advice: Westbrook is up to take the place of Romy Gonzalez with Gonzalez on the IL due to a hamstring strain. The 28-year-old will provide some infield depth while on the active roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:28 am
  • Red Sox place Romy Gonzalez (hamstring) on IL
Red Sox placed INF Romy Gonzalez on the 15-day injured list with a hamstrings train.

Advice: Gonzalez will sit out the next week-plus while recovering. The Red Sox selected the contract of Jamie Westbrook from Triple-A Worcester to take Gonzalez’s place on the roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:23 am

  • Lands on IL with hamstring strain
The Red Sox placed Gonzalez on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a left hamstring strain.

Advice: Gonzalez was one of two Boston infielders to hit the shelf Sunday with a hamstring injury, as Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) was also deactivated. The lefty-hitting Enmanuel Valdez is expected to occupy the strong side of a platoon at second base while Grissom is on the IL, but Gonzalez might have been the preferred option at the keystone against left-handed pitching had he not strained his hamstring. Jamie Westbrook -- whose contract was selected from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday -- now profiles as a likely platoon mate for Valdez at second base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:21 am

  • Receives first big-league call-up
The Red Sox selected Westbrook's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

Advice: The 28-year-old is in the big leagues for the first time in an 11-year professional career that included stops in the Diamondbacks, Giants, Brewers, Tigers and Yankees organizations before he caught on with the Red Sox on a minor-league deal over the winter. Over his 195 plate appearances with Worcester, Westbrook slashed .267/.364/.436 with five home runs and two stolen bases and made starts at five different positions (first base, second base, third base, right field and designated hitter). With Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) and Romy Gonzalez (hamstring) going on the injured list Sunday, second base likely represents Westbrook's clearest path to playing time in Boston, though Enmanuel Valdez will likely get the first opportunity to make regular starts at the keystone, at least against right-handed pitching. • Moves to IL
The Red Sox placed Grissom (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Advice: Though the right hamstring strain that forced Grissom out of Saturday's 6-3 win over the Tigers is considered mild, he'll still need at least a week and a half to make a full recovery from the injury before rejoining Boston's 26-man active roster. The Red Sox selected the contract of Jamie Westbrook from Triple-A Worcester to bolster the team's depth in the middle infield in the short term, but Enmanuel Valdez and David Hamilton may be more likely options to pick up starts at second base while Grissom is on the mend.
