    • Cubs place Dansby Swanson (knee) on 10-day IL
Cubs placed INF Dansby Swanson on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a right knee sprain.

Advice: Swanson sat out of Wednesday’s contest due to soreness in his knee, and now he’ll be out for at least an additional week while recovering. Fortunately, the Cubs also got good news on the injury front on Friday with Seiya Suzuki being activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Expect Nico Hoerner to slide over and cover shortstop while Swanson is shelved, leaving Miles Mastrobuoni to see increased action at second base. Rotoworld Today, 1:49 pm

    • On bench for third straight game
Chourio is absent from the lineup for Friday's game versus the Cardinals.

Advice: In three games since Christian Yelich returned from the injured list, Chourio has been out of the lineup each time, although he did get a couple plate appearances off the bench Wednesday. Yelich, Sal Frelick and Blake Perkins appear to be ahead of Chourio in the outfield pecking order, and Jake Bauers might be as well. The 20-year-old rookie is slashing just .205/.275/.397 through his first 25 MLB contests. Rotowire.com Today, 1:46 pm
    • Placed on 10-day IL
Swanson (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to May 8, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Swanson missed Wednesday's game against the Padres with knee soreness stemming from an awkward slide that occurred April 25, and the injury has now been deemed a right knee sprain. Nico Hoerner slotted in at shortstop Wednesday while Miles Mastrobuoni got the start at second base -- a lineup that could become the norm while Swanson sits. The shortstop will be eligible to return May 18. Rotowire.com Today, 1:45 pm

    • On bench Friday
Stott is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Miami.

Advice: Stott will defer to Whit Merrifield at second base with a lefty (Trevor Rogers) on the mound for Miami. Stott is slashing .250/.344/.389 through 128 plate appearances this season. Rotowire.com Today, 12:59 pm
    • Idle Friday
Cabrera is out of the lineup Friday against Tampa Bay.

Advice: Cabrera will give up third base duties to Jon Berti on Friday, who will bat ninth against the Rays. In 130 plate appearances, Cabrera is slashing .256/.300/.397 with four homers and two stolen bases. Rotowire.com Today, 12:50 pm

    • Idle Friday
Keith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Houston.

Advice: Keith will dodge the matchup with left-handed Framber Valdez on Friday, yielding second base work to Andy Ibanez. In 116 plate appearances this season, Keith is slashing .162/.233/.181. Rotowire.com Today, 11:54 am

    • Homers in second straight
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.

Advice: Hoskins increased Milwaukee's lead to three runs in the bottom of the first with a two-run shot off Sonny Gray, giving the first baseman his eighth home run of the season. He's also homered in back-to-back games now, though Hoskins is still batting just .154 for the month and hasn't recorded multiple hits since April 26 against the Yankees. • Halts skid, steals two bags in loss
De La Cruz went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two steals, a run scored and was caught stealing in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Once again, De La Cruz filled up the box score. His fourth-inning single snapped an 0-for-17 slide, and he later delivered a run as part of the Reds' three-run seventh inning to tie the game at 4-4. His aggressiveness on the bases was also on display as he swiped his 22nd and 23rd bags; however, that aggression may have cost Cincinnati. After leading off the sixth with a walk and a steal, De La Cruz was caught trying to take third base and was not in scoring position when Jake Fraley singled later in the frame. That aggressiveness is something manger David Bell tolerates from De La Cruz, as he told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "Right there, he did have more time, but we've also seen him get to third with no outs and lead to a run," Bell said. Rotowire.com Today, 5:34 am

    • Slugs fourth homer
Doyle went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, an additional run and a double in Thursday's 9-1 win against the Giants.

Advice: Doyle keyed a seven-run fourth inning for Colorado with a 430-foot, three-run blast to center field. The long ball ended a 21-game homerless stretch for the outfielder, and he had notched just one RBI over that span. Doyle has been one of the most productive hitters for Colorado this season, though, slashing .276/.317/.455 with four home runs and a team-leading 22 runs and four stolen bases.
