    • Homers again Saturday
Langeliers went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run, an additional RBI and an additional run in a 19-8 victory versus the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Langeliers piled on to a decimation of Baltimore's pitching with a two-run shot to left field in the third inning that gave gave Oakland a 12-0 lead. The backstop had previously notched an RBI single in the second frame. Langeliers has gone deep in two straight contests and in four of his past 10. He leads MLB catchers with 17 long balls on the campaign. Rotowire.com 39 minutes ago

    • Shea Langeliers homers, plates three in rout
Shea Langeliers homered and drove in three runs in a blowout win over the Orioles on Saturday.

Advice: Langeliers hit a two-run blast in the third inning to make it a 12-0 game. You’re not reading that wrong. The backstop also drove in one of the Athletics’ 19 runs — again, not a typo — with a single in the second. Langeliers has homered 17 times while driving in 45 runs in the first half of the 2024 campaign. Not too shabby. Rotoworld Today, 4:13 pm

    • Diaz has three hits, three-run home run in loss
Yandy Diaz went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, and a three-run home run against the Rangers on Saturday.

Advice: Diaz’ home run was his eighth of the season. His three-run shot in the seventh inning off Jacob Latz put the Rays on top 3-2. Diaz is hitting just .270 on the season, but has picked it up lately. He’s 42-for-133 (.315) over his last 31 games. Rotoworld Today, 3:48 pm

    • Franciso Alvarez out Saturday with elbow soreness
Francisco Alvarez is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Pirates due to left elbow soreness.

Advice: Alvarez took a 99-mph fastball from Pirates starter Paul Skenes off his left elbow during Friday’s showdown, so it makes sense that he’s going to get some extra time to rest and recover. It’ll be Luis Torrens handling the catching duties on Saturday afternoon in his place. The 22-year-old backstop is probably fine, but it’s something to keep an eye on over the rest of the weekend. • Tyler Freeman returns to lineup Saturday vs. Giants
Tyler Freeman (wrist) has returned to the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Giants.

    • Absent from lineup Saturday
Alvarez (elbow) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: Alvarez went 1-for-3 in Friday's 14-2 loss to Pittsburgh, during which he was struck in the left elbow by a 99 mph fastball from Paul Skenes in the fourth inning, per Pat Ragazzo of SI.com. Luis Torrens will start behind home plate Saturday and bat sixth against Pirates southpaw Bailey Falter. Rotowire.com Today, 10:03 am

    • Goes yard again
Riley went 1-for-3 with a walk, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Aaron Nola let a sinker catch too much of the plate in the fourth inning, and Riley drove it over the wall in center field for Atlanta's first runs of the night. The third baseman has an extra-base hit and at least one RBI in four straight games, and over his last 20 contests he's slashing .362/.438/.797 with six doubles, eight homers, 17 runs and 17 RBI. • Javier Assad (forearm) completes bullpen session
Javier Assad (forearm) threw a bullpen session on Friday.

Advice: Assad landed on the injured list last week with a right forearm strain, so it’s an extremely encouraging sign that he came out of Friday’s side session without any issues. The 26-year-old righty might be able to jump right back into Chicago’s starting rotation mix without requiring a minor league rehab assignment. Rotoworld Today, 8:29 am

    • Knocks homer in loss
Langeliers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Orioles on Friday.

Advice: Langeliers' seventh-inning, 412-foot shot to center closed the Athletics' deficit to 3-2, which would turn out to be the final score. It was the 16th homer across 75 games -- and third in the last nine -- for Langeliers, who appears very likely to surpass the career-best 22 he slugged last season if he's able to avoid any extended absences.
