    • Garrett Crochet strikes out eight in loss to Astros
      Garrett Crochet allowed three runs with eight strikeouts across six innings in a loss to the Astros on Wednesday.

      Advice: Crochet came into this one on a roll, not allowing more than two runs over each of his last nine starts. The Astros got to him for three on Wednesday, starting with three hits and a groundout to bring a run across in the third inning. A walk and two hits brought another run in to score in the fourth. After a scoreless fifth, Crochet allowed one more run in on a double and a base hit in the sixth. He still generated 19 whiffs to strike out eight batters. The 24-year-old left-hander will take a 3.25 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and a 124/20 K/BB ratio across 88 2/3 innings into a start against the Dodgers in Chicago on Monday. Rotoworld Today, 7:41 pm

    • Crushed in short outing
      Gray (2-3) allowed nine runs on 11 hits in three-plus innings Monday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Mets.

      Advice: Gray never found his footing Monday and the Mets took advantage. Most of the damage came during a six-run second inning and his night was finished after allowing a two-run shot to Brandon Nimmo in the fourth. Gray had allowed nine earned runs over his previous 50 innings before Monday's brutal outing. His season ERA shot up from 2.17 to 3.31 as a result. Gray's next outing is projected to be in Milwaukee.     • Gray hammered in loss to Mets Monday
      Jon Gray allowed nine runs in three innings and took the loss against the Mets on Sunday.



      Advice: Gray gave up 11 hits, walked none and struck out two. Ouch. Gray’s ERA jumped up from 2.17 to 3.31 with this blow up. He probably didn’t deserve that 2.17 ERA to begin with given his xFIP was 3.52 entering Monday’s start. The 32-year-old right-hander will look to bounce back against the Royals at home this weekend.

    • Slated to throw this week
      Musgrove (elbow) is expected to play catch Wednesday or Thursday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

      Advice: Musgrove will throw for the first time since he went on the injured list June 1 due to a bone spur in his right elbow. The right-hander acknowledged that his new slider may have contributed to the issue and indicated Saturday that he is considering how to alter either the grip or his wrist action on the pitch. Musgrove also shared that he is working to change the landing on his delivery in order to reduce the stress on his arm. The veteran hurler could still need surgery to remove the bone spur, but even if he avoids that scenario, he probably won't be ready to rejoin the Padres until late July.     • Cruises to eighth win
      Burnes (8-2) earned the victory Sunday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings against the Phillies. He struck out seven.

      Advice: Burnes matched a season high by allowing nine baserunners, but it didn't matter as he limited the damage, allowing only two runs over six innings as the Orioles provided him with eight runs of support. Burnes has still yet to allow more than three earned runs in any start this season, and he's allowed two or fewer runs 12 times in 15 games. He also notched his 10th consecutive quality start Sunday. Burnes will carry a 2.14 ERA and 1.04 WHIP into his next start, currently scheduled to take place when the Orioles travel to Houston to take on the Astros next weekend.     • Corbin Burnes strikes out seven Phillies in win
      Corbin Burnes allowed two earned runs in six innings in an 8-3 win over Phillies on Sunday. He struck out seven, walked two, and scattered seven hits.

      Advice: Burnes was incredibly solid again in this one. Not dominant, but spotted a huge lead early and managed to coast behind his stellar cutter and curveball. The victory was his eighth of the season with a sparkling 2.14 ERA. Rotoworld Sunday, 1:48 pm
       
    • Win streak snapped in Boston
      Rodon (9-3) allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Red Sox.

      Advice: Rodon had posted a quality start in each outing during his seven-game winning streak, but both impressive stretches were snapped Saturday. The Red Sox put up all five runs against Rodon during the first two innings, and the Yankees' offense wasn't able to muster a comeback. The southpaw still has a strong 3.28 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and 81:23 K:BB through 85 innings over 15 starts this year.       Morton (4-3) earned the win over Tampa Bay on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and two walks while striking out eight batters over six innings.

      Advice: Morton had his swing-and-miss stuff working, racking up 22 whiffs among his 105 pitches. The veteran hurler fell behind by a run in the first inning but yielded only two hits while holding the Rays scoreless thereafter. This was a nice bounce-back for Morton after he surrendered five runs (four earned) over five innings against Washington in his previous start.       Carlos Rodon struggled in Saturday night’s loss to the Red Sox, surrendering five runs on seven hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw still managed to punch out seven batters on the evening while issuing three free passes. The Red Sox jumped on him in the opening inning, using run-scoring knocks from Tyler O’Neill, Connor Wong and Jaime Westbrook to push three runs across. They added another pair in the second on a two-run double by Rafael Devers. Rodon generated 18 swings and misses on 109 pitches on the night — eight of those on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 28 percent.
