    • Jon Gray whiffs seven, allows one run vs. Rockies
Jon Gray struck out seven while allowing just a run over six innings Friday in a no-decision versus the Rockies.

Advice: Gray, 32, did allow eight hits, but he issued just one walk and was able to make enough big pitchers to hold the Colorado lineup to just that run in Coors Field. The right-hander has been excellent as of late, and he’s now allowed no more than one run in all but two starts in 2024. He’ll take a 2.36 ERA into his next scheduled start against Cleveland on Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 pm
    • Charlie Morton punches out seven Mets in win
Charlie Morton turned back the clock Friday with seven strikeouts across seven innings in the Braves 4-to-2 win over the Mets. He allowed three hits, one walk, and one run while earning the victory.

Advice: The only blemish on Morton’s ledger was a late solo shot from Francisco Lindor. He was in complete control on a rainy night in Queens and looked like vintage Morton. He’s had a fantastic start to his age-40 season with a 3.14 ERA across seven starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:52 pm
    • Resumes throwing
Musgrove (elbow) played catch Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Friday marks the first time Musgrove has played catch since he landed on the injured list Sunday due to right elbow inflammation. The 31-year-old righty said everything looked good after receiving an MRI, and he still expects to return from the injured list when eligible next Friday. He owns a 6.37 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across 41 innings this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:55 pm

    • Ceding center field work
Siri is out of the lineup Friday against the Yankees.

Advice: Siri will be on the bench for the third time in the last four games, as Jonny DeLuca continues to garner more action in center field. Siri is batting 2-for-17 (.117) since April 27. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:26 pm

    • Ippei Mizuhara pleads guilty to multiple charges
Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara is pleading guilty to multiple charges including bank fraud and subscribing to a false tax return, according to the Associated Press.

Advice: Mizuhara has agreed to plead guilty to bank and tax fraud in a case where federal prosecutors allege he stole nearly $17 million from Ohtani to pay off sports gambling debts to an illegal bookmaking operation. Mizuhara will enter his guilty plea in the coming weeks and is set to be arraigned May 14, bringing an end to one of the more bizarre sagas in baseball history. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:05 pm

    • Another productive performance
Cruz went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Angels.

Advice: Cruz provided the majority of Pittsburgh's offense by delivering a double with the bases loaded in the fifth inning. He's had a productive start to Pittsburgh's homestead, collecting six hits in 18 at-bats while also homering twice and driving in seven. Even more important is that he has struck out only four times in that span, a significantly decreased rate from his 34.7 percent clip this season. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:43 am

    • Secures third victory
Rodon (3-2) earned the win over Houston on Wednesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Rodon gave up six earned runs over four frames versus the Orioles in his worst start of the campaign his last time out, but he bounced back with a strong showing Wednesday. The left-hander racked up 16 swinging strikes against the Astros, leading to his second-highest single-game strikeout total of the season. While Rodon's season ERA sits at a mediocre 3.56, that's largely due to the blowup outing against Baltimore. He has posted a 2.54 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 37:14 K:BB over 39 innings across his other seven starts. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:25 am

    • Carlos Rodón strikes out seven in win over Astros
Carlos Rodón allowed two runs with seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Advice: Rodón served up a solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the first inning. He settled in nicely, tossing five more scoreless frames. Rodón went back out for the seventh gave up a run on two hits before his day was done with one out in the frame. He struck out seven on an impressive 16 whiffs. It was a nice bounceback effort for the 31-year-old left-hander. He’ll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 43/14 K/BB ratio across 43 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Tuesday. • Giants finally place Jorge Soler (shoulder) on IL
Giants placed OF Jorge Soler on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, with a right shoulder strain.

Advice: The Giants had been taking things day-to-day with their 32-year-old slugger — who has been shelved since last weekend due to soreness in his right shoulder — but on Wednesday they felt it was time to throw in the towel and sit him down rather than playing short-handed any longer. It’s a tough break for fantasy managers in weekly leagues, who may have chanced starting him for that juicy series at Coors Field. Heliot Ramos was recalled in a corresponding move.
