    • Finds trouble in fifth inning
Pepiot allowed three runs on two hits, four walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Pepiot returned from a lower left leg contusion that sent him to the injured list. He was cruising through the first four innings, but he put three straight batters on base to begin the fifth. Richard Lovelady couldn't slow down the Boston offense, leaving Pepiot to settle for a no-decision. The 26-year-old right-hander threw just 37 of 66 pitches for strikes in his return from injury. Pepiot now has a 3.98 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB over 40.2 innings across eight starts. It's unclear if his limited workload came from a pitch count or just the natural flow of the game. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Athletics. Rotowire.com Today, 7:27 pm

    • Ryan Pepiot shaky in return
Ryan Pepiot allowed three earned runs across four innings in his return to the Rays’ rotation. He walked four and struck out three against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Pepiot had been on the shelf since May 5th after a Starling Marte line drive struck his leg and sent him to the IL. He was cruising early, but unraveled a bit in the fifth inning allowing the first three batters to reach base before being pulled. Both of his inherited runners came around to score. Pepiot leaned on his fastball, throwing it for two thirds of his pitches, and didn’t seem to have the best feel of his slider as the Red Sox swung and missed at it just once. Rotoworld Today, 6:40 pm

    • Shut down for two weeks
Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Alzolay (forearm) will be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Alzolay went in for a second opinion on his right flexor strain Tuesday, and the damage appears to be serious enough to warrant a shutdown. Counsell added that Alzolay could require surgery, but his next steps will be determined after the two-week rest period. Rotowire.com Today, 2:16 pm

    • Ryan Pepiot activated ahead of Wednesday’s start
Rays activated RHP Ryan Pepiot from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Pepiot will make his return to the Rays rotation against the Red Sox tonight. Rotoworld Today, 10:02 am

    • Activated ahead of start
The Rays activated Pepiot (lower leg) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Red Sox in Tampa.

Advice: Pepiot will rejoin the rotation Wednesday after missing the previous two weeks with a lower left leg contusion. The right-hander didn't make a rehab start, so it's possible he will be relatively limited from a pitch-count perspective versus Boston. Pepiot will bring a 3.68 ERA and nifty 41:11 K:BB over 36.2 innings into Wednesday's proceedings. Rotowire.com Today, 9:52 am

    • Rings up ninth save
Miller recorded his ninth save in Tuesday's win over the Rockies, striking out the side in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: Miller mowed through the trio of Jordan Beck, Charlie Blackmon and Ezequiel Tovar on 16 pitches, retiring each on swinging strikes to close out the one-run win. It was Miller's first save opportunity since April 30, as well as his 15th straight scoreless appearance. The flamethrowing right-hander hasn't allowed so much as a single since April 25 as well, and his trio of strikeouts Tuesday pushed his K/9 and swinging strikeout rate figures to an astounding 18.1 and 23.7 percent, respectively, across 20.1 innings. • Secures win with elite performance
Hader (3-3) earned the win over the Angels in 10 innings on Tuesday, pitching two perfect innings while striking out four.

Advice: Hader put together a vintage performance to help the Astros get by the Angels, which included striking out the side in the 10th inning. He's now pitched multiple frames in two of his last three outings and is showing signs of dominance once again after a rough start to the year. Over his last 11 games, Hader has a 1.26 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB in 14.1 innings, which equates to a 44.4 strikeout rate. For the year, he's now lowered his ERA to a 4.09 to complement a 1.09 WHIP and 35:9 K:BB in 22 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:53 am

    • Mason Miller strikes out side for ninth save
Mason Miller struck out all three batters he faced Tuesday against the Rockies for his first save of the month.

Advice: Miller earned eight saves from Apr. 9-30, but the A’s hadn’t had any save situations for him since. Given that he also pitched Sunday, it’s possible he’ll now require Wednesday off. The A’s have allowed him to pitch on consecutive days twice, but they haven’t had him work three times in four days. That it’s a day game Wednesday doesn’t help. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:42 pm

    • Josh Hader gets win after two perfect innings
Josh Hader picked up a win after pitching perfect ninth and 10th innings against the Angels on Tuesday.

Advice: Hader fanned four while pitching two innings for the second time in his last three appearances. He’s allowed one run and struck out 14 in 9 1/3 innings this month, lowering his ERA from 6.39 to 4.09. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:02 pm
