    • Emmanuel Clase lowers ERA to 0.37 on Monday
      Emmanuel Clase tossed a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Mets to record his league-leading 14th save of the season.

      Advice: Clase was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the final frame and needed just 12 pitches (seven strikes) to end the contest. The 26-year-old elite stopper has converted a major league-leading 14 of 17 save opportunities to go along with a microscopic 0.37 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 24/2 K/BB ratio across 24 1/3 innings (25 appearances).     • Wins after blown save
      Clase (3-1) allowed an unearned run and struck out one batter in one inning of work Sunday against the Twins. He was charged with a blown save but earned the win.

      Advice: Clase gave up the game-tying run on an error in the ninth inning, but Cleveland walked it off in the bottom half of the frame. It was his first blown save since April 16, and he's now 13 for 16 in save chances this season.     • Shut down from throwing
      Bradford (ribs) said Sunday he's been shut down from throwing since he's not recovering as quickly as expected, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The left-hander apparently wasn't experiencing any pain since recently starting up a throwing program, but his recovery also wasn't moving forward.     • Taking on 'fluid' role
      Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday that Diaz's bullpen role will be more "fluid" for the near future, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.

      Advice: The 30-year-old surrendered four runs in his third blown save of the season Saturday and admitted that his confidence is down with seven runs allowed in his past three outings, so the Mets won't rely on him to be their primary closer for a bit. Diaz is still viewed as the club's closer long term but is now likely to see some lower-leverage work in an attempt to get him back on track.     • Mendoza: Edwin Díaz’s role with Mets is ‘fluid’
      Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that Edwin Diaz’s role with the Mets is “fluid.”

      Advice: Fluid, by definition, is not very concrete. Díaz has been horrific over the last week, as he’s seen his ERA jump up to 5.50 from the 2.13 mark he had entering the month by allowing runs in three consecutive appearances. The 30-year-old looked the part prior to these struggles and it’s worth noting he’s a hurler who missed all of 2023 thanks to a fluke injury. Díaz probably won’t be on the mound for the next save chance for the Mets, but New York is going to do everything in its power to try and get the right-hander back on track.       Megill earned a save against the Astros on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out three baters over one inning.

      Advice: Megill gave up a two-out single to Jake Meyers but was otherwise dominant, recording all three of his outs via strikeout. He threw 12 of 16 pitches for strikes and recorded his fifth save over five appearances in March.       Trevor Megill struck out three in a scoreless ninth in a save against the Astros on Saturday.

      Advice: That’s the sixth save of the season for the 30-year-old right-hander. Megill allowed just one hit, so it’s up to you to decide whether he struck out the side or not.       Diaz allowed four runs on four hits while recording just one out in Saturday's loss to the Marlins.

      Advice: The Mets handed the ball to Diaz with a four-run advantage in the bottom of the ninth inning. He permitted a leadoff double and watched that run come around on a one-out single. Another single put two runners on and Josh Bell cashed in when he sent a ball 428 feet to center field for a three-run homer. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza pulled Diaz at that point. While this didn't officially go down as a blown save, it continued an ugly stretch for Diaz, who has allowed 10 runs over his last eight appearances covering 8.1 frames. When asked after the game about a potential change at closer, Mendoza didn't dismiss it, per Mike Puma of the New York Post. Diaz himself even said he'd be open to working in low-leverage spots for a while as he tries to get back on track. If Mendoza does opt to switch things up, Reed Garrett and Adam Ottavino look to be the top candidates to step in at closer. Rotowire.com Saturday, 5:40 pm

      Advice: Diaz entered the game with a four-run lead so it wasn’t technically a save situation, but he once again couldn’t hold the lead for the Mets. It’s his third straight appearance with a blown lead. Diaz allowed an RBI single to Jazz Chisholm and a game-tying three run home run to Josh Bell. His ERA is now 5.50 on the season. Diaz has been an elite closer in the past, but we’re at the point where he might need to be removed from the closer role temporarily.
