• Lifted after HBP
Rosario was in the face by a pitch during the first inning of Saturday's game against the Pirates and was removed from the contest, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Advice: Richie Palacios entered the game as a pinch runner following the hit-by-pitch. More information regarding the severity of Rosario's injury should come postgame. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:29 pm

  • Amed Rosario (face) leaves game after hit by pitch
Amed Rosario was removed from Saturday’s game against the Pirates in the first inning after taking a 100-mph fastball from Jared Jones off of his face.

Advice: Yikes. Fortunately, Rosario was able to walk off the field under his own power. It’s unclear where exactly the pitch clipped him on the left side of the face, or if it glanced off of the ear flap on his helmet first. Either way, he’ll head for further evaluation to determine the extent of the damage. The Rays should have an update on his status as soon as one becomes available. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:22 pm

  • Back in lineup
Arenado (elbow) is starting at third base and batting fifth Saturday against the Giants, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Arenado suffered a bruised elbow after getting hit by a pitch during Wednesday's contest and said after the game that his goal was to return Saturday. After a few days of rest, the 33-year-old third baseman will achieve his goal and return to face the Giants with former teammate Jordan Hicks on the mound. Arenado has slashed .270/.333/.365 with six RBI across 72 plate appearances since the beginning of June. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:36 am

  • Athletics lose Abraham Toro (hamstring) to IL
Athletics placed INF Abraham Toro on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Advice: It’s a tough break for Toro, who has done a nice job this season for Oakland, batting .260/.303/.386 with six homers and three steals in 295 plate appearances over 73 games. The 27-year-old infielder is going to wind up missing at least a few weeks, even if it’s only a low-grade hamstring strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:21 am

  • Lands on IL with strained hamstring
The Athletics placed Toro on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a strained right hamstring.

Advice: Toro returned to the lineup Friday after missing the three previous games due to a shoulder strain. He went 1-for-3 with a run and a walk in Friday's 6-5 win over the Twins, but he was replaced by Tyler Nevin in the top of the seventh inning due to the hamstring strain. Nevin and Aledmys Diaz should see increased playing time with Toro sidelined, as could Armando Alvarez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. • Nolan Arenado back in Saturday’s lineup vs. Giants
Nolan Arenado (elbow) is back in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Giants.

Advice: Arenado returns to St. Louis’ lineup after missing Thursday’s showdown against San Francisco at historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama due to a left elbow contusion. The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative and it doesn’t seem like a serious concern moving forward. It’s been a down year for the 33-year-old fantasy stalwart, but he’s starting to hit for some power with three homers over his last 30 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:06 am

  • Picks up first big-league hit
Martinez went 1-for-3 in Friday's loss to the Guardians.

Advice: Getting his first career MLB start while batting eighth as the second baseman, Martinez poked a single up the middle to lead off the sixth inning for his first career hit, but the rest the Toronto offense failed to bring him around to score. The 22-year-old also committed his first career error, and defense remains the biggest obstacle between him and a regular spot in the lineup. Martinez seems likely to head back to Triple-A Buffalo once Bo Bichette (calf) gets healthy, but if the Blue Jays become sellers at the trade deadline, a permanent spot could open up in the majors for the top prospect. • Headed for injured list
Toro suffered a strained hamstring Friday and will be placed on the injured list, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Toro was held out of the lineup earlier in the week with a shoulder issue and returned to the lineup Friday. He suffered an unrelated hamstring injury and will now be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. Tyler Nevin and Aledmys Diaz figure to see increased playing time. Rotowire.com Friday, 9:27 pm

  • Back in lineup Friday
Toro (shoudler) is starting at third base and hitting in the leadoff spot for Friday's series opener against the Twins.

Advice: Shoulder soreness kept Toro out of the starting lineup in the Athletics' last three games, though he did pinch hit in the seventh inning of Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Royals. On the season, Toro is slashing .259/.300/.387 with 15 doubles, six home runs and 24 RBI over 291 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Friday, 2:23 pm
