    • Forced to abandon save opportunity
Adam allowed one hit and one walk while striking out one across 0.2 innings to earn a hold Thursday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Adam entered the game in the ninth inning and was in line to earn the save, but he was forced to exit after the Rays' exceeded their mound visit limit. He was laboring toward the end of the outing, having allowed each of the last two batters he faced to reach base. Though it wasn't his most dominant appearance, Adam has been excellent this season and has turned in six consecutive scoreless appearances. He could be a candidate for save chances moving forward on occasions when Pete Fairbanks is unavailable or used in high-leverage situations earlier in a contest. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 pm
    • Cleared to start Sunday
Lopez (back) is slated to start Sunday's game against the Padres in Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Advice: The right-hander dealt with back tightness in his most recent start Monday against the Cubs and was lifted after five scoreless innings, but he's apparently feeling better two days later. Assuming he's able to make it out of his between-starts bullpen session without incident, Lopez shouldn't face any major workload restrictions when he toes the rubber Sunday. After spending most of the last two seasons as a reliever, Lopez has exceeded expectations with his move to a starting role in his first year in Atlanta, going 2-1 with a 1.34 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB in 40.1 innings through his first seven outings. • Stuck with blown save
Romano (1-1) took a loss and a blown save in Wednesday's 3-2 defeat to the Orioles, allowing two runs on two hits without recording an out in the ninth inning.

Advice: Called upon to protect a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth, Romano gave up an infield single to Jordan Westburg leading off the frame before Adley Rutschman launched a two-run, walk-off homer. It's the first blown save of the year for Romano -- he'd been 6-for-6 in save chances prior to Wednesday. The 31-year-old right-hander sports a 5.06 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB through his first 10.2 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:57 pm

    • Jordan Romano gives up walkoff homer to Orioles
Jordan Romano took his first blown save and loss after giving up a two-run homer to the Orioles on Wednesday.

Advice: Romano has been somewhat shaky since returning from elbow inflammation, but that he gave up a 347-foot homer to Adley Rutschman today doesn’t mean a whole lot. He should still be safe in the closer’s role, even if the Blue Jays presumably have more faith in Yimi García at the moment. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:14 pm

    • Dominates again Tuesday
Miller, who'd pitched just once in the previous 11 games entering Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Astros, threw 14 fastballs of at least 100.5 mph out of his 29 pitches during his two scoreless innings, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Miller's arm was clearly fresh, and manager Mark Kotsay deployed his closer for multiple innings in the tie game as a result. Miller rewarded him by recording five strikeouts -- including of the noteworthy trio of Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Pena -- over his 29 pitches. The elite velocity helped Miller to his 13th straight scoreless outing and extended his career-high scoreless streak to 17.1 innings. The improved - but still inconsistent - Athletics have afforded Miller just eight save chances among his 14 appearances, but he's converted each and now boasts a minuscule 0.98 ERA and 0.65 WHIP alongside a 38:5 K:BB across 18.1 innings. • Grabs third save
Adam tossed one scoreless inning to pick up the save Monday against the Red Sox. He walked one and struck out three.

Advice: With Pete Fairbanks unavailable due to a cut on his throwing hand, Adam was called upon Monday to close the door for his third save. Adam, who served as the Rays' main end-game option while Fairbanks was on the shelf prior to his return on May 11, will likely remain the preferred option until Fairbanks is ready to return from his most recent setback. • Reynaldo López (back) likely to make next start
Reynaldo López tossed five scoreless innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Cubs.

Advice: López certainly would’ve gone deeper into the contest, but he was lifted for precautionary reasons following just 71 pitches (50 strikes) after his back tightened up on him. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern with Braves manager Brian Snitker telling reporters afterwards that he doesn’t expect him to miss his next start. The 30-year-old righty will bring a stellar 1.34 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 40/16 K/BB ratio across 40 1/3 innings (seven starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the Padres. • Jason Adam receives call for save on Monday
Jason Adam tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Monday against the Red Sox to notch his third save of the season.

Advice: Adam was summoned by Rays manager Kevin Cash to work the final frame with Pete Fairbanks unavailable due to a cut on his right index finger. The 32-year-old righty issued a leadoff walk to Tyler O’Neill, which brought the potential tying run to the plate, but he proceeded to strike out Dominic Smith, Vaughn Grissom and Romy Gonzalez to extinguish any hope of a Boston comeback. He’s converted three of four save chances this season to go along with a pristine 1.47 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 16/7 K/BB ratio across 18 1/3 innings of work. Rotoworld Monday, 7:17 pm
    • Earns win in extra frame
Romano (1-0) earned the win Monday, walking one and striking out one over two scoreless innings of relief against the Orioles.

Advice: Romano entered a tie game in the ninth, needing just nine pitches to complete the frame, then unofficially saved his own victory after the Blue Jays plated a run in the top of the 10th. It was the 10th appearance of the season for the Toronto closer, who had converted on all six of his save opportunities prior to earning his first victory Monday. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:11 pm
