    • Edwin Díaz finishes serving 10-game suspension
Mets activated RHP Edwin Díaz from the restricted list.

Advice: Díaz has finished serving an automatic 10-game suspension handed down by the league after he was ejected back on June 23 for using an illegal foreign substance. The 30-year-old will be back in New York’s bullpen for Saturday’s contest against the Pirates. According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, the Mets’ bullpen recorded a league-worst 8.37 ERA during his absence. Needless to say, his return is going to make a significant impact, even if he’s not back to best closer in the universe status. Rotoworld Today, 8:48 am
    • Throws bullpen
Jameson (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

Advice: Friday marked Jameson's first bullpen session since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September. The 26-year-old isn't expected to pitch this season, but Friday's bullpen is an indication that Jameson is progressing well in his rehab. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:32 pm
    • Drey Jameson (elbow) throws first bullpen session
Drey Jameson (elbow) threw his first bullpen session on Friday since undergoing Tommy John surgery in September.

Advice: It’s the first step in the recovery process for the 26-year-old hurler. He’s not expected to make it back before the end of the 2024 season, but should be fully recovered and ready to roll for the start of spring training in 2025. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:29 pm
    • Set to start Saturday
Hancock, who is with the Mariners' taxi squad, is slated to start Saturday against the Blue Jays, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Advice: In his last start in the majors, Hancock allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out one over seven innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on June 13. He has a 4.79 ERA and 1.28 WHIP over eight major-league starts this season. Hancock's spot start Saturday gives the Mariners' rotation extra rest while Bryan Woo (hamstring) begins his rehab assignment with High-A Everett over the weekend. • Emerson Hancock to start for Mariners on Saturday
Emerson Hancock will be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to start for the Mariners on Saturday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Hancock is already with the team on their taxi squad, but he’ll officially get the call prior to Saturday’s game. The 25-year-old right-hander has already made eight starts for the M’s this season, posting a 4.79 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 24/13 K/BB ratio over 41 1/3 innings. The Blue Jays’ offense as a whole has been better of late though, so it’s no longer the strong streaming target that it was earlier in the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:29 pm

    • Works in relief Tuesday
Ortiz struck out four and allowed one run on three hits and no walks over two innings out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Cardinals.

Advice: Ortiz had covered six innings while striking out seven batters -- both season highs -- while serving as a starter in his previous appearance June 26 in Cincinnati, but the Pirates seem to have moved him back to the bullpen following Martin Perez's return from the injured list. The Pirates have since placed another starter in Jared Jones (lat) on the IL, but Quinn Priester (lat) could be on track to return from the IL to fill Jones' open rotation spot, which next comes up Sunday versus the Mets. Ortiz would be a candidate to start Sunday if the Pirates insead elect to have Priester make another rehab start in the minors before coming off the IL. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:06 am

    • Converts on save
Green picked up the save Tuesday against Houston, allowing one hit and no walks with two strikeouts across a scoreless inning.

Advice: Green has stepped into a temporary ninth-inning role with Jordan Romano (elbow) and Yimi Garcia (elbow) shelved. Though the pair have been sidelined for multiple weeks, Tuesday's contest was the first save opportunity offered since and Green stepped up and converted. Green has been exceptional for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 1.37 ERA with a 17:4 K:BB across 19.2 innings. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:53 pm

    • Snags fourth win
Clase (4-1) pitched a perfect inning to earn the win Tuesday over the White Sox.

Advice: Clase kept the game tied at 6-6 in the top of the ninth inning, needing just 10 pitches to retire the side. Bo Naylor's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame sealed the win for the Guardians, giving Clase his first decision since May 19. The closer is on an eight-inning scoreless streak and has maintained elite ratios with a 0.67 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 39:4 K:BB through 40.1 innings overall. Clase is also 25-for-28 in save chances this year, with the Guardians having bounced back to win in all three of his blown saves. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 11:36 pm
    • Chad Green narrowly escapes with save vs. Astros
Chad Green tossed a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday against the Astos to record his third save of the season.

Advice: Green surrendered a leadoff double before striking out Joey Loperfido and Trey Cabbage before getting Jose Altuve to fly out to end the game. It was just his third save of the season, but the veteran has been tremendous with a 1.37 ERA. With Yimi García nearing his return, Green may not see many more save opportunities, but he’s worth rostering in the meantime. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:05 pm
