    • Not a viable option Sunday
Soto (forearm) "probably" wasn't available Sunday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Soto went through his normal pregame routine in the hopes of entering Sunday's game as a pinch hitter. Manager Aaron Boone indicated after the contest that work went well, but that Soto still wasn't likely to appear. That leaves his status murky heading into Monday's matchup against the Royals. • Fires seven innings
Kirby allowed a run on five hits over seven innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four during the win over the Royals.

Advice: The lone run to score on Kirby came via a sacrifice bunt in the fifth inning. After a shaky stretch in May, he's back to looking like his usual self recently; over his last three starts, Kirby has posted a 2.00 ERA and 21:1 K:BB. He was in line for the win after his seventh quality start of 2024 before the Royals tied up the game in the ninth inning. Kirby is now sporting a 3.81 ERA with a terrific 78:7 K:BB through 80.1 frames. His next start is lined up to be at home against the Rangers. Rotowire.com Today, 7:32 pm

    • Triples, drives in two
Langford went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI during Sunday's win over the Giants.

Advice: Langford recorded his fourth multi-hit game in the last nine while collecting his fifth and sixth RBI over that same span. Langford is showing to show some positive signs after a slow start to the season, lifting his average to .234 with Sunday's effort and hitting .286 with a double and two triples over this most recent nine-game stretch. • George Kibry strong for seven against Royals
George Kirby pitched seven innings of one-run ball Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Kirby was in line for the win when he left, but a two-run lead was blown in the bottom of the ninth. Kirby has allowed a total of four runs in his last three starts, lowering his ERA from 4.33 to 3.81. He went without walking a batter today, and his K/BB stands at 78/7 through 80 1/3 innings. • Jurickson Profar leaves the yard in loss Sunday
Jurickson Profar socked his 10th dinger of the season on Sunday afternoon in a lopsided loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The 31-year-old outfielder continued his hot-hitting ways, crushing a 384-foot (102.5 mph EV) solo shot off of Tommy Henry in the third inning, pulling the Padres to within four runs at 7-3. That would be as close as they would get. Profar also singled in the contest, finishing the afternoon 2-for-4. He’s now slashing an unbelievable .325/.420/.504 with 10 homers, 43 RBI and four stolen bases on the season. Rotoworld Today, 5:21 pm

    • Blows second save
Alvarado (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning against the Mets. He struck out two.

Advice: Alvarado entered the game with a one-run lead looking to preserve his 12th save, but things went downhill quickly. After allowing a walk and a single to start the inning, an infield single by Mark Vientos tied the game. Then with the bases loaded and one out, a hit-by-pitch followed by a passed ball allowed two more runners to score, saddling Alvarado with his second blown save and third loss of the season. Sunday's outing came on the heels of five consecutive scoreless appearances since his last blown save, which came May 24 in Colorado. The outing lifted Alvarado's ERA to 3.54 with a 1.14 WHIP and 31 strikeouts through 28 innings this season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:59 pm
    • Max Scherzer fires four scoreless in rehab start
Max Scherzer (thumb) fired four shutout innings in his minor league rehab start at Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday afternoon.

Advice: The 39-year-old right-hander allowed just one hit and one walk on the day while punching out five batters. He threw a total of 53 pitches in the contest and averaged 92.7 mph on his fastball. He’s going to need at least one additional rehab start before he’s ready to return to the Rangers’ rotation, but that day is coming soon. Rotoworld Today, 1:44 pm

    • Could come off bench Sunday
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Soto (forearm) will go through his normal pregame routine and may be available off the bench Sunday against the Dodgers, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Boone also indicated that Soto should rejoin the lineup during the four-game series in Kansas City that begins Monday, as the outfielder appears to be progressing well in his recovery from forearm inflammation. It remains to be seen if the 25-year-old will be back in action Monday against the Royals, but it appears his absence won't extend too much longer. Rotowire.com Today, 1:21 pm

    • Wyatt Langford has two hits in win over Giants
Wyatt Langford went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI in a win over the Giants on Sunday.

Advice: Langford got off to a slow start to his MLB career and then wound up on the IL, but his underlying metrics suggested he deserved better. He was making regular contact and showing a good understanding of the strike zone, but the results weren’t there. Since coming off the IL he’s now gone 10-for-38 with three runs scored and six RBI. He’s still in the lineup essentially every day and sporting a strikeout rate of just 20 percent, which is great for a 22-year-old in his first MLB experience. The hot streak is going to come.
