    • Swats second homer
Martinez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez went deep in the eighth inning, launching a 403-foot solo shot off Spencer Turnbull. It was the veteran slugger's second long ball of the campaign, both of which have come over is past five games. Martinez is batting .350 (7-for-20) with four RBI over that stretch. • J.D. Martinez goes 2-for-4 with home run
J.D. Martinez stayed hot with his second homer and fourth extra-base hit in five games for the Mets on Wednesday in their loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Martinez has shrugged off a sluggish start to his season. He’s hitting .350 since last Saturday with his six hardest balls of the season coming in that span. The Mets’ offense is scuffling now, but Martinez should have plenty of run producing opportunities this season hitting behind Brandon Nimmo, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor. • Jurickson Profar swipes base in loss on Wednesday
Jurickson Profar singled and stole a base on Wednesday afternoon as the Padres were shut out by the Rockies.

Advice: Profar smacked a leadoff single off of Austin Gomber in the fourth inning and swiped second base, but the Padres couldn’t cash him in from there. He finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with a strikeout. On the season, he’s still slashing a robust .322/.412/.513 with seven homers, 29 RBI and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:52 pm
    • On base four times in loss
Profar went 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Profar notched a base hit in the fourth and worked walks in his other three plate appearances. It's the first time since June 29, 2022 that he's walked three times in one game. Profar has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball thus far and is now 10th in the majors with a .324 batting average and fourth with a .416 OBP after Tuesday night. • Clubs homer Monday
Profar went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies.

Advice: Profar has hit safely in eight of 11 games in May, going 13-for-40 (.325) with three homers and 10 RBI this month. The 31-year-old is slashing .320/.402/.517 with seven long balls, 29 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases over 44 contests. Profar's best season in the majors was the abbreviated 2020 campaign, and he hit just nine homers with 46 RBI over 125 games last year -- he'll likely post stronger marks in 2024, but his current pace will be tough to sustain. • Nearing rehab stint
Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday but will not immediately begin a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones is traveling to Albuquerque with Kris Bryant (back), but he's behind his teammate in his recovery process. He'll continue to ramp up his activity prior to appearing in games, but the Rockies hope he'll be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by late May. Rotowire.com Monday, 7:14 am

    • Denies combined no-hit bid
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Three Atlanta pitchers combined to no-hit New York over 8.2 innings before Martinez slugged a solo shot off Raisel Iglesias to end the bid at history. The long ball was Martinez's first as a Met in his 48th plate appearance. Though his power didn't emerge until Saturday, Martinez has put up a steady .267/.313/.378 slash line through 14 games. • J.D. Martinez breaks up no-hitter with solo homer
J.D. Martinez hit a solo homer in the ninth in a loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: It didn’t really impact the result of the game, but Martinez saved the Mets some embarrassment with his homer, as it prevented the team from being no-hit. He waited until the last moment to do so, as it came with two outs in the ninth off Raisel Iglesias. It’s the first homer of the season for Martinez, and the first as a member of the Mets. • Nolan Jones heading out on rehab assignment
Nolan Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque to begin a minor league rehab assignment next week.

Advice: Kris Bryant (back) will start his rehab assignment on Tuesday, with Jones likely a day or two behind him. Rockies’ manager Bud Black said Sunday that both injured outfielders could return to the team at some point during their upcoming road trip. Rotoworld Saturday, 2:19 pm
