• Carlos Correa (intercostal) takes grounders Friday
Carlos Correa (intercostal) took ground balls on the field prior to Friday’s game against the Angels.

Advice: Twins’ manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters earlier in the week that Correa was close to resuming baseball activities, and it’s encouraging to see him back out on the field. The Twins are going to continue to play it cautiously here, but it’s nice to see him taking steps in the right direction. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

  • Padres option Matthew Batten back to Triple-A
Padres optioned INF Matthew Batten to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: With Manny Machado returning from the paternity list on Friday night, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and it would appear as though Batten drew the short straw this time. The 28-year-old is just 1-for-3 (.333) with a single in his limited time with the Padres this season. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago

  • Junior Caminero (quad) considered day-to-day
Morgan Ensberg, the manager at Triple-A Durham, told reporters on Friday that top prospect Junior Caminero is considered day-to-day after tweaking his quad on Thursday.

Advice: Caminero was lifted from Thursday’s game in the third inning after sustaining the injury. Ensberg explained that he wasn’t going to put Caminero in any jeopardy, so he pulled him as a precaution. The 20-year-old phenom ran and did defensive work without issue on Friday but was getting another night off just to be on the safe side. He could be used off the bench in Friday’s game and should return to the starting lineup on Saturday. Rotoworld Today, 4:50 pm
  • Padres activate Manny Machado from paternity list
Padres activated INF Manny Machado from the paternity list.

Advice: Machado was away from the club over the first half of the week as he welcomed his first child — a healthy baby boy — into the world. The proud papa will start at third base for the first time all season and will bat cleanup against Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Friday evening in San Diego. Rotoworld Today, 4:18 pm

  • Throwing from 135 feet
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Dominguez (elbow) has increased his throwing distance to 135 feet, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Dominguez continues to progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery from last September, and Boone noted that the 21-year-old is "a few weeks" away from playing in a minor-league rehab game. Dominguez appeared in eight games with the Yankees last season, going 8-for-31 with four home runs and seven RBI over that span. Rotowire.com Today, 4:03 pm

  • Jasson Domínguez (elbow) continues to progress
Yankees’ skipper Aaron Boone told a conglomerate of media members on Friday that Jasson Domínguez (elbow) is only “a few weeks” away from starting a minor league rehab assignment.

Advice: The 21-year-old phenom is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He recently increased his throwing distance to 130 feet and has progressed nicely in his recovery. If all goes according to plan, he could be ready to join the Yankees in early June — and could wind up making a major impact in fantasy leagues. Rotoworld Today, 3:47 pm

  • Not starting Friday
Estrada (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Estrada went 0-for-2 in Wednesday's game against the Mets before being pulled due to left hamstring tightness. The Giants had their off day Thursday, but the 28-year-old will sit out for at least one more game while managing his injury. Tyler Fitzgerald will start at second base Friday and bat eighth against Pirates right-hander Quinn Priester. Rotowire.com Today, 3:18 pm

  • Rare day off against righty
Palacios is not in Friday's lineup against the Mets.

Advice: Palacios rarely sits against righties, but he's on the bench to start this one against righty Chris Flexen. Randy Arozarena, Jose Siri and Amed Rosario will start in the Rays' outfield from left to right. Rotowire.com Today, 3:17 pm
  • Drives in three runs
Witt went 1-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored during Friday's 8-0 win at Detroit.

Advice: The 23-year-old started the scoring with a sacrifice fly during the third inning and added a two-run triple as part of a seven-run ninth for the Royals. Witt is in a bit of a power drought with no homers in his past 14 games, though he does have six RBI and three steals over his last four contests. Rotowire.com Today, 2:59 pm
