    • Pete Fairbanks ready to start rehab on Tuesday
Pete Fairbanks (nerve issue) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Advice: The 30-year-old hurler has been out since April 22 due to a nerve-related condition that caused him difficulty in gripping the baseball. He should only need an outing or two there before he’s ready to rejoin the Rays’ bullpen. Rotoworld Today, 2:27 pm

    • Rehab assignment starting soon
Fairbanks (arm) is set to begin a rehab stint at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported Friday.

Advice: Fairbanks has been dealing with a nerve issue in his throwing arm and after receiving positive results on testing done in late April, he's set to begin throwing in-game. It's unclear how long his stint in Durham will be, but once Fairbanks is back with the Rays, expect him to reclaim closing duties from Jason Adam and Garrett Cleavinger. • Moved to 60-day IL
The Diamondbacks transferred Kelly (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Advice: Kelly was placed on the 15-day IL on April 23 after sustaining a teres major strain in his right shoulder. Due to his transfer to the 60-day IL, Kelly will be on the shelf until at least late June, and his rehab progress over the next few weeks could determine whether the right-hander will need more time beyond that window. Kelly started the season with a 2-0 record, 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 24.2 innings through four starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:45 pm

    • D-backs transfer Merrill Kelly to 60-day IL
Diamondbacks transferred RHP Merrill Kelly to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The procedural move opens up a spot on Arizona’s 40-man roster. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander is facing a lengthy absence after landing on the shelf last week with a right shoulder strain. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:32 pm

    • Tagged with loss in quality start
Bassitt (2-5) took the loss Wednesday, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk over six innings as the Blue Jays fell 6-1 to the Royals. He struck out four.

Advice: The veteran righty took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but a leadoff double by Kyle Isbel kicked off a three-run frame for Kansas City, and with Seth Lugo also pitching extremely well, Bassitt had no margin for error. He tossed 62 of 92 pitches for strikes in his third quality start of the season, but Bassitt will carry a shaky 5.45 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Philadelphia. • Chris Bassitt gives up three-run homer in ldefeat
Chris Bassitt surrendered three runs in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Royals.

Advice: Bassitt actually had a no-hitter going until the sixth, when the Royals mustered two singles and two doubles to take a 3-0 lead. The results will likely be there eventually, but the loss today leaves him 2-5 with a 5.45 ERA. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:49 pm
    • Gets back on track
Crochet didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk across five innings against the Twins. He struck out seven.

Advice: After surrendering five or more runs in three straight starts, Crochet snapped out of the funk and only allowed the Twins to score on a two-run homer by Carlos Santana in the second frame. Crochet also had strong command, walking just one batter after yielding seven walks and two hit-by-pitches in his last three outings. Although Crochet has been inconsistent to kick off 2024, his strikeout stuff has been elite, boasting the second most K's in baseball. He's lined up for a Saturday start against the Cardinals. • Garrett Crochet bounces back Monday vs. Twins
Garrett Crochet struck out seven and allowed two runs over five innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Twins.

Advice: Crochet gave up just two hits and only handed out one free pass as a second-inning homer by veteran Carlos Santana accounted for all of the damage against him. He generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a solid 34 percent CSW. It was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the 24-year-old southpaw after allowing at least five earned runs in three consecutive starts since April 13. He’ll bring a bloated 5.97 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 47/9 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings (seven starts) into a road matchup on Sunday against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The underlying metrics suggest that he’s pitched better than his surface stats, which means fantasy managers should continue keeping him rostered outside of extremely shallow mixed leagues. • Escapes with save
Adam allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning Monday. He struck out two and earned a save over the Brewers.

Advice: Adam also hit a batter and faced a bases-loaded situation with two outs but still narrowly finished off the 1-0 win. It was his first save of the year after blowing his only other chance April 5 against the Rockies. Adam now owns a 1.29 ERA with a 12:4 K:BB and seven holds through 14 innings.
