      Advice: The 24-year-old singled in the top of the third inning before coming around to score on a Vinnie Pasquantino home run. Garcia later added two doubles to give him his first three-hit performance of the season. The third baseman has now hit safely in four consecutive games and in six of eight to open the month of May, tallying four RBI and four runs scored over that latter stretch.       Maikel Garcia finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI against the Angels on Thursday.

      Advice: Garcia was due for some luck, and he got it tonight, as both of his doubles came on balls hit less than 80 mph. His highest EV in the contest, a 104-mph grounder, actually produced an out. The Royals have remained very patient with Garcia in the leadoff spot, and odds are that he’ll only get better from here.       Cruz went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored Wednesday against the Angels.

      Advice: Cruz provided the majority of Pittsburgh's offense by delivering a double with the bases loaded in the fifth inning. He's had a productive start to Pittsburgh's homestead, collecting six hits in 18 at-bats while also homering twice and driving in seven.     • Ankle issues not long term
      Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that Cruz's recurring left ankle issues are not believing to be a long-term concern, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

      Advice: Cruz played just nine games before a fractured left ankle ended his 2023 season. The ankle has since bothered him off and on during the 2024 season, including most recently during Monday's game versus the Angels. He's been able to mostly play through it, but you have to wonder whether it could be contributing to Cruz's disappointing .244/.293/.382 batting line.
