      Cole Irvin allowed only a pair of hits over 6 1/3 innings Friday in the Orioles’ 3-0 shutout of the Reds.

      Advice: It’s Irvin’s third straight scoreless start. His stint in the rotation figured to be a short one with Kyle Bradish and John Means on the IL to open the year, but he’s gained a reprieve with Grayson Rodriguez and Tyler Wells going down and he’s making the most of it, having gone 3-1 with a 2.86 ERA to date.       Rafael Devers doubled twice, drove in Boston’s only two runs and walked Friday against the Twins.

      Irvin (3-1) earned the win Friday over the Reds, allowing just two hits while striking out four over 6.1 scoreless innings.

      Advice: Irvin continued his dominant run Friday -- he's now won three consecutive starts while extending his scoreless-inning streak to 20.2. The 30-year-old left-hander's ERA is down to 2.86 with a 1.07 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB across six starts (34.2 innings) this season.       Ryan Helsley picked up a save Friday against the White Sox without allowing a run in his inning of work.

      Advice: Helsley didn’t give up a hit, didn’t give up a walk, and didn’t pick up a strikeout. The right-hander needed just eight pitches — seven of those strikes — against a Chicago team that looked like it wanted to be anywhere else.       Jason Foley suffered a brutal blown save against the Yankees on Friday night, surrendering hits to all four batters that he faced.

      Advice: Yikes. In what was a terrific pitcher’s duel that had the Tigers leading 1-0 heading to the ninth inning, Foley immediately got off on the wrong foot by allowing a leadoff single to Aaron Judge. Alex Verdugo then dropped down a bunt single with third baseman Zach McKinstry playing back, setting the stage for Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton then ripped an RBI double into right field on the second pitch he saw, and Anthony Rizzo followed with a run-scoring single to walk it off.     • Amed Rosario collects three hits in win over Mets
      Amed Rosario had a nice night at the dish in Friday’s victory over the Mets, going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI.

      Advice: The 28-year-old infielder reached on an infield single to start the second inning and scored the Rays’ first run on a ground out off the bat of Jonny DeLuca. He then smacked an RBI single off of José Quintana in the third inning that gave the Rays a 4-3 lead they would never relinquish. He then came around to score on a two-run single by DeLuca. Rosario has been a bright spot in the Rays’ lineup this season, slashing a healthy .309/.327/.427 with two homers, 15 RBI and three stolen bases in his first 29 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm

      Advice: The 25-year-old hurler will likely repeat the process another time or two before facing live hitters, but he’s trending in the right direction. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he isn't sure how many more bullpen sessions Miller will need to throw before he progresses to facing live hitters, so the 25-year-old righty will likely remain without a clear return timeline until he gets to that point.
