      Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with an RBI single in a win Friday over the Mariners.

      Advice: Altuve hit a perfect safety squeeze to knock in his 12th run of the game and give Houston a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning. The steal was the seventh of the season and 300th of his career. Altuve has been sensational thus far in 2024, and is playing near — if not at — the MVP level he reached not all that long ago.       Nolan Arenado drove in all three runs for the Cardinals while doubling twice against the White Sox on Friday.

      Advice: Arenado doubled home two runs in the first, and another in the fifth. The 33-year-old has picked up eight two-baggers in the 2024 campaign, and the pair of hits ups his slash to .279/.338/.369.       Salvador Perez hit a three-run homer in the Royals’ 7-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday.

      Advice: Perez broke the game open with his three-run homer, as it came with the Royals leading 4-1 in an inning where Kansas City put up a six-spot. The 33-year-old catcher has already gone deep eight times in 2024, and the three runs driven in bump that total to 30.     • Jacob Young pulled due to apparent injury Friday
      Jacob Young was pulled from Friday’s showdown against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning due to an apparent injury.

      Advice: No word yet on what happened to the 24-year-old speedster, but he was replaced by Jesse Winker when the Nationals took the field to start the fifth inning.       Advice: Young batted leadoff a few times last month, but this is the first time since April 19 that a player other than CJ Abrams has been at the top of the batting order (Abrams is hitting second Friday).       Suzuki (oblique) took on-field batting practice Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro and LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune report.

      Advice: It's the first time he's taken BP since he suffered a right oblique strain April 14. Suzuki estimated that he's 80 percent recovered from the injury, and he could begin a rehab assignment next week if he continues trending in the right direction.       Altuve went 3-for-5 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases in an 8-2 victory versus Cleveland on Thursday.

      Advice: Altuve continued his recent stretch of hot hitting, notching his third multi-hit effort over his past four contests. The veteran second baseman added a pair of thefts Thursday, and he's now swiped six bags over his past 15 games after failing to record a steal across his initial 16 contests of the campaign.       Allen (2-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings in a loss against Houston on Thursday.

      Advice: Allen allowed just one run through five frames, but Jon Singleton launched a two-out, two-run homer against him in the sixth to send him to the showers and put him in line for the loss. The left-handed hurler fell one out shy of his second quality start of the campaign, though he's pitched more than five innings in three of his past four outings.
