    • Shane Baz promoted for 2024 debut on Friday
Rays recalled RHP Shane Baz from Triple-A Durham.

Advice: Finally, the 25-year-old right-hander will make his highly anticipated 2024 regular season debut on Friday evening against the Rangers. Baz made 10 starts at Triple-A Durham while building up his stamina, registering a 4.12 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and a 44/23 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings of work. He’ll probably only go five innings in Friday’s start against the Rangers, so fantasy managers should temper expectations for a victory in his first start. He should deliver plenty of strikeouts though. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:53 pm
    • Officially recalled for start
The Rays recalled Baz from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Advice: He will start Friday in Texas against the Rangers, taking the rotation spot vacated by Aaron Civale, who was traded to the Brewers earlier this week. Baz will be making his first major-league start since July 2022, as he missed the entire 2023 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The young right-hander had been heating up at Durham in June, collecting a 1.57 ERA and 35:10 K:BB across 23 innings. Baz will have a good shot to remain in the Rays rotation for the rest of the season and needs to be picked up in most fantasy leagues where he's still available. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:59 am
    • Records seventh save
Beeks picked up the save in a win over the Brewers on Thursday, hurling 1.1 scoreless innings while striking out one.

Advice: Beeks relieved Tyler Kinley with two outs and two on in the eighth and got Garrett Mitchell to go down on strikes to escape the jam. The lefty returned for the ninth and went 1-2-3 through the top of Milwaukee's lineup to secure his seventh save of the season and his first since May 31 against the Dodgers. Beeks has not allowed an earned run in any of his last three appearances while posting at least one strikeout in each of those outings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:41 am

    • Beeks picks up seventh save Thursday
Jalen Beeks threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings and picked up the save against the Brewers on Thursday.

Advice: It was Beeks’ seventh save of the year. He had blown his last three save opportunities. Beeks’ save was his first save since May 31st. He has a 4.19 ERA on the season. He has five wins and seven saves on the season, but isn’t the most reliable late inning arm in fantasy. Rotoworld Thursday, 7:54 pm

    • Aaron Civale to make Brewers debut on Friday
Aaron Civale will make his Brewers debut on Friday against the Dodgers.

Advice: It’s a tough assignment right out of the gate for Civale as he’ll take the ball for Friday’s series opener at Dodger Stadium just a few days after being dealt to Brewers from the Rays. The 29-year-old righty holds a pedestrian 5.07 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 84/27 K/BB ratio across 87 innings (17 starts) this season. His addition moves Bryse Wilson to Milwaukee’s bullpen until further notice. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:22 pm
    • Brewers bolster rotation with Aaron Civale trade
Brewers acquired RHP Aaron Civale from the Rays for SS Gregory Barrios.

Advice: It doesn’t come as a total shock to see another analytically-driven front office rolling the dice on Civale after he spent the first couple seasons of his career in Cleveland and Tampa Bay’s pitching development engines. The 29-year-old righty was phenomenal last year for the Rays following a midseason trade from the Guardians, but his strikeout rate has regressed back to previous level this year and he’s struggled to a pedestrian 5.07 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 84/27 K/BB ratio across 87 innings (17 starts). Even if the strikeouts don’t return, Civale represents an upgrade for Milwaukee’s injury-ravaged starting rotation moving forward, even if it’s a tough landing spot for fantasy purposes from a park factors standpoint. • RHP Shane Baz to start on Friday
RHP Shane Baz will join the Rays’ rotation and start Friday’s game against the Rangers, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

Advice: Baz will take the rotation spot that opened up when the Rays dealt Aaron Civale to the Brewers. In Baz’ last five games with Triple-A Durham he has a 1.57 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 10.4 walk percentage, and 36.5 strikeout percentage in 23 innings. He should be rostered in any format where he’s available. • Taking Civale's spot in rotation
Baz will be recalled from Triple-A Durham to take Aaron Civale's spot in the Rays' rotation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Prior to being traded to the Brewers, Civale's next turn was slated to be Friday in Texas. It's not clear whether Baz will start that day or another, but his return to the big leagues is imminent. Baz struggled in May at Durham with a 7.71 ERA and 9:13 K:BB over 16.1 innings, but he rebounded in June, collecting a 1.57 ERA and 35:10 K:BB across 23 frames. The Rays could be careful with his workload in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, but Baz should be rostered in all fantasy formats. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:27 am
    • Takes loss against Guardians
Kopech (2-7) allowed one hit and one earned run across 0.2 innings and took the loss Tuesday against the Guardians.

Advice: Kopech entered the game in the ninth inning with the score tied at 6-6. He allowed a leadoff single and threw a wild pitch to put the runner on third base before allowing a sacrifice fly to bring in the game-winning run for Cleveland. Kopech has each of the White Sox's last two saves and should remain the team's primary closer despite a 4.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 36 innings this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:03 am
