    • Out of lineup again Wednesday
Diaz (finger) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Francisco, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Diaz is still feeling the effects of a foul tip off his right index finger and will miss a third straight start. He remains day-to-day and could be ready to play Friday versus the Tigers after the Astros' off day Thursday. Victor Caratini will handle the catching duties again Wednesday. • Heading to bench Wednesday
Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Turner will head to the bench for the second time in the series, opening up the designated-hitter spot for Daniel Vogelbach in the finale. Though he's begun to heat up in June with a .400 on-base percentage and .407 slugging percentage, Turner is still maintaining a .676 OPS on the season, the worst mark of his career since he became an everyday player in the big leagues. • Passan: Dodgers acquire Biggio from Blue Jays
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Dodgers acquired INF/OF Cavan Biggio from the Blue Jays for minor league reliever Braydon Fisher.

Advice: The 29-year-old Biggio was waived by Toronto last week after hitting .200/.323/.291 with two home runs in 131 plate appearances in 2024. It was a disappointing start to the season after Biggio seemed to unlock something in the second half of last season when he hit .272/.404/.361 in 52 games. Over the last two seasons, Biggio has played every position in the field other than pitcher and catcher, so the Dodgers clearly see some value in his ability to move on all over and post near 80 percent contact rates. We’ll see if they can get a new level of production out of him, but he should remain on fantasy waiver wires for now. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:41 am

    • Traded to Dodgers
The Dodgers acquired Biggio from the Blue Jays on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Braydon Fisher, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Advice: Biggio had been designated for assignment after slashing just .200/.323/.291 through 130 plate appearances this season. The 29-year-old will provide defensive versatility for the Dodgers, having played every position in the pro ranks other than pitcher and catcher. Biggio is making $4.21 million this season and has one year of arbitration eligibility remaining. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 6:35 am

    • Logs steal in loss
Steer went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Cleveland.

Advice: Steer recorded his 12th steal in 65 games, putting him on pace to surpass the 15 he had over 156 games in 2023. Speed was not a hallmark to his game in the minors, but the running Reds have changed that. On an unrelated note, the team received news that first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand is mulling season-ending wrist surgery. That means Steer, who has been the primary fill-in for Encarnacion-Strand in recent weeks, may continue on as Cincinnati's regular at first base. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:54 am

    • Yainer Diaz out Tuesday with finger contusion
Yainer Diaz (finger) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Giants.

Advice: Diaz is available off the bench once again, if needed, but he’ll sit out his second straight contest as he continues to recover from a bruised right index finger. It’ll be Victor Caratini handing the catching duties with César Salazar up from the minors as emergency depth. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:14 pm

    • Sitting Tuesday
Diaz (finger) isn't in the Astros' lineup Tuesday versus the Giants.

Advice: X-ray and MRI results on Diaz's right index finger came back negative before Tuesday's game, but the Astros will opt to hold him out of action rather than using him as their designated hitter. Victor Caratini, who figures to start regularly until Diaz is cleared to catch again, will get the nod behind the plate and bat ninth. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:06 pm

    • X-ray, MRI comes back negative
The Astros are hopeful Diaz can avoid the injured list after an X-ray and MRI on his right index finger came back negative, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 in Houston reports.

Advice: Diaz is still dealing with swelling in the finger after it was hit by a foul tip during Sunday's game against the Angels. While a decision on a potential IL stint has not yet been made, it sounds like Diaz is trending toward avoiding it for now. The Astros are set to recall Cesar Salazar as insurance behind the plate, so it seems as though Diaz will be unavailable to catch for a few more days. He was available to pinch hit Monday, so it's possible Diaz will serve as a designated hitter until he's ready to catch. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 10:39 am

Yainer Díaz is out of Monday’s lineup because of a bruised right index finger, but he is available off the bench for the Astros.
