      Robbie Ray (elbow) is scheduled to pitch in an Arizona Complex League game at some point next week as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

      Advice: Ray continues to make strides toward a return to the Giants’ rotation. He’s going to wind up needing several minor league rehab starts after he’s finished with his work in the Arizona Complex League before he’s ready to return.       Advice: The Dodgers needed to clear a spot on the active roster for Evan Phillips’ return on Friday night and unfortunately Hernandez was the odd-man out this time around. The 29-year-old hurler has posted an 8.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 6/3 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings for the Dodgers this season.       Advice: Hernandez will be pushed off the Dodgers' roster in order to make room for Evan Phillips (hamstring), who was reinstated from the IL in a corresponding move. The 29-year-old Hernandez struggled heavily upon joining the big-league club May 15, allowing nine earned runs in just 9.2 innings of work.       Advice: Phillips was forced onto the injured list May 5 after suffering a right hamstring strain. He's since thrown 1.2 innings of shutout ball while striking out three batters and walking none during a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. The 29-year-old right-hander should immediately retain his spot as the Dodgers' closer -- a role he thrived in prior to getting injured, giving up just one earned run in 13.2 frames while collecting eight saves.       Advice: Boyle built up to 43 pitches during his previous rehab start Wednesday, and he'll officially remain in the minors for at least one more start as he continues to build toward a starter's workload. The 24-year-old right-hander gave up four runs without recording an out during his first Triple-A outing May 23, but he bounced back with 2.1 scoreless frames in his second appearance while striking out three batters and walking two.       Advice: The 29-year-old closer finally returns to the Dodgers’ bullpen after landing on the injured list with a hamstring strain. While Daniel Hudson and Blake Treinen did a nice job in his absence, expect Phillips to jump right into the team’s ninth-inning role.       Ashcraft didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

      Advice: It's the fifth straight start that Ashcraft's failed to record an out in the sixth inning -- he's allowed at least three runs in each of those outings. The 26-year-old right-hander is 4-3 on the year with a 4.76 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 47:21 K:BB across 11 starts (58.2 innings).
