    • Snaps slump with long homer
Outman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-3 win over Miami.

Advice: Outman was dropped to ninth in the batting order Monday after primarily batting in the No. 7 slot throughout the campaign, and he responded with his first long ball -- a 437-foot, two-run shot -- since April 9. It's been a struggle for Outman in his second full big-league campaign, as he's slashing a meager .169/.267/.303 and came into Monday having hit just .107 (3-for-28) over his previous nine contests. Outman may need to build upon Monday's homer with an extended run of success to continue to hold onto an everyday spot in the lineup, as rookie Andy Pages appears to have earned consistent playing time, Teoscar Hernandez is a staple in left field and veteran Jason Heyward (back) is getting closer to a return. • Batting ninth Monday
Outman will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game versus the Marlins.

Advice: Outman has mostly batted seventh this season, but he hit eighth in his last two starts and is now down in the nine spot for the first time since July of 2023. He entered play Monday hitting just .107/.219/.143 across his last nine contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:25 pm

    • Pete Alonso gets first day off Monday vs. STL
Pete Alonso is not in the starting lineup for Monday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Alonso will sit for the first time this year against right-hander Kyle Gibson and St. Louis. With the Polar Bear out of action, the Mets will start DJ Stewart and he’ll hit fourth. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:56 pm
    • Getting first day off
Alonso is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Advice: He'll take a seat for the first time all season after recently falling into a 1-for-28 drought at the plate that has brought his slash line down to .206/.295/.420. DJ Stewart will draw the start at first base Monday, but Alonso should be back in the lineup Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:53 pm
    • Tommy Edman (wrist) moved to 60-day IL
Cardinals transferred Tommy Edman from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Edman now won’t be eligible to return for the Cardinals until the end of May as he recovers from his wrist injury. Chris Raycroft was selected from Triple-A Memphis with the added roster room. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:14 pm

    • Moves to 60-day IL
The Cardinals transferred Edman (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

Advice: Edman has been on the IL all season while working his way back from October surgery on his right wrist. The 28-year-old has resumed taking swings from both sides of the plate without incident, but since he has yet to be cleared for full baseball activities, the expectation was that he would still need at least a few more weeks to finish up his rehab program. With that in mind, Edman's move to the 60-day IL doesn't come as surprise, and his potential timeline for a return won't be dramatically affected as a result. He won't be eligible to make his 2024 Cardinals debut until May 24. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:47 pm

    • Hits bench for series opener
Siri is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: While starting both of the Rays' last two games after serving a two-game suspension, Siri went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts and committed an error. With his average now sitting at .176 through 31 games this season and with his defense grading out poorly compared to the previous two years, Siri's standing atop the depth chart in center field could be on shaky ground. Jonny DeLuca will draw the start in center Monday after previously manning right field alongside Siri the past two days. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:22 pm

    • Jose Siri is not starting with Josh Lowe back
Jose Siri is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the White Sox.

Advice: Josh Lowe is starting in center field in his first game off the IL, but Jonny DeLuca will shift to center field and bat 9th. Both DeLuca and Siri are right-handed hitters and are facing a right-handed pitcher, so this seems like a sign that DeLuca could get a real shot to take the Rays’ center field job. Siri’s playing time had always been linked to his strong defense; however, DeLuca is also a strong defensive outfielder and might have more offensive upside. The Rays certainly like him since they made him part of the return from the Dodgers in the Tyler Glasnow trade this offseason. Now might be the time to stash DeLuca in deeper formats in case he wins this job. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:59 am

    • Resumes drills
Jones (back) did throwing and running drills ahead of Saturday's game against the Pirates, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Jones had been shut down for a few days since landing on the injured list Tuesday. Manager Bud Black acknowledged that Jones is progressing each day, and the current expectation is that he will be able to return by mid-May. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:05 am
