    • Fighting slump
Seager went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 7-1 loss to Kansas City.

Advice: Seager delivered the Rangers' lone run with a single in the third inning. He's been mired in a slump and entered Friday's game batting .073 (3-for-41) with two RBI over the previous 11 games. Rangers general manager took the long view when speaking with Kenndi Landry of MLB.com, indicating the club expected Seager to need some time to get going after undergoing hernia surgery in January. Young also feels there has been some bad luck, which speaks to the shortstop's .269 BABIP. Rotowire.com 52 minutes ago

    • Strikes out five in no-decision
Stone did not factor into the decision Friday against Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits one walk over six innings. He struck out five.

Advice: Stone looked solid Friday night against a tough Atlanta lineup, generating 14 whiffs and five punchouts. His only blemish on the evening was a 449-foot solo shot allowed to Austin Riley in the first inning. Stone has made four straight starts allowing two or fewer runs, tossing a 2.35 ERA in 23 innings over that span. The Dodgers right-hander is slated to make his next start against the Marlins at home. • Austin Riley swats solo homer in extra-inning loss
Austin Riley went went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in a loss to the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Riley got Atlanta on the board with a solo homer in the first off Gavin Stone, and that’d be the last run they’d score with Stone in the game. Riley is now up to 17 RBI and three homers to go with a disappointing .725 OPS over 124 at-bats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:15 pm

    • Gavin Stone limits Atlanta to one run over six
Gavin Stone didn’t factor into the decision against Atlanta on Friday despite allowing just one run over six innings.

Advice: Stone was excellent, but the Dodgers blew a late lead to prevent him from picking up the win. The 25-year-old threw 58-of-86 pitches for strikes while fanning five and issuing just one walk. Stone isn’t missing bats at an elite level, but it’s tough to argue with the results thus far. He gets a tasty matchup against the Marlins next week. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:15 pm
    • Pulled after four
Nola did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Both of the Giants' runs came in the second inning on a Thairo Estrada double, though it certainly could've been a lot worse -- Nola needed 46 pitches to get through the frame, issuing four walks. The right-hander was ultimately pulled after throwing 89 pitches through four innings, as he failed to qualify for the win. Nola, who'd gone eight innings in each of his previous two starts, is 4-1 on the season with a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB across seven outings (43.1 innings). Nola's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Marlins in his next start. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:00 pm

    • Aaron Nola pulled after four versus Giants
Aaron Nola was lifted after allowing two runs and walking four in four innings Friday against the Giants.

Advice: A really odd start for Nola, who pretty much always lasts five innings unless he’s truly bad or hurt. Tonight, though, he walked four for the second time this season — he did that just once between 2022 and ’23 — and the Phillies didn’t think it was worth sending him back out for the fifth at 89 pitches. They were probably right, too, as the bullpen went on to allowing one run over five innings in a 4-3 win. Nola’s velocity is down, and he’s struggled to generate as many missed swings as usual. The hope is that he’ll get stronger, and he probably deserves the benefit of the doubt, given his history. Fortunately, even though his peripherals are well off, he has a 3.32 ERA through seven starts. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:46 pm

    • Seager drives in run, but Rangers routed by KC
Corey Seager went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Royals on Friday.

Advice: Seager drove in the first — and only — run of the night with an RBI single off Brady Singer in the third. Seager has not gotten off to a strong start to the 2024 campaign, as the pair of knocks still has his average at a disappointing .229 with an equally disappointing .297 slugging percentage. • Homers again Friday
Morel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

Advice: Morel snapped a scoreless tie with two outs in the sixth inning, launching a solo shot to centerfield off Joe Ross to put the Cubs ahead 1-0. Morel now has homers in back-to-back games and three in his last five contests following a span of 16 games without a long ball. The 24-year-old third baseman is now slashing .210/.286/.403 through 133 plate appearances this year with six homers, 18 RBI, 19 runs scored and three stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:27 pm

    • Brandon Drury (head) remains out of action Friday
Brandon Drury (migraine) remains out of the Angels’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Guardians.

Advice: It’s unclear if Drury is sitting again because he’s still dealing with the migraine issue, or if manager Ron Washington simply wanted to go a different direction with right-hander Tanner Bibee on the hill for the Guardians on Friday night. Luis Rengifo will cover second base in his absence while Willie Calhoun functions as the Halos’ designated hitter. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:38 pm
