      Advice: Volpe was responsible for one-third of the Yankees' nine hits in the victory, and he scored twice from atop the team's lineup. It was the fifth time this season the second-year shortstop has collected three or more hits in a game. Volpe had a 21-game hitting streak snapped May 30, but he's picked things right up since then, building a five-game hitting streak during which he's batted .364 (8-for-22).       Dylan Cease allowed three runs with six strikeouts in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.

      Advice: All three runs off Cease came via the home run. Nolan Schanuel got the scoring started with a solo blast to lead off the first inning. Zach Neto followed with a two-run shot in the second. Cease settled in to toss four more scoreless frames while striking out six.     • Anthony Volpe collects three hits in win Wednesday
      Anthony Volpe went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of runs scored as the Yankees topped the Twins on Wednesday evening in New York.

      Advice: Volpe led off the home half of the first inning with a single and came around to score the game’s first run on a ground ball off the bat of Aaron Judge. He also singled in the fifth inning and scored on Aaron Judge’s three-run triple. Volpe then smacked a three-bagger of his own in the eighth inning, but the Bombers couldn’t cash him in.       Jorge Polanco (hamstring) will not return from the injured list when first eligible on Thursday.

      Advice: The 30-year-old second baseman has been making progress in his recovery from a mild right hamstring strain, but he’s not close to a return just yet. He has been participating in infield drills and has been taking batting practice, but it sounds like he may ultimately need a game or two on a minor league rehab assignment before he’s ready to rejoin the M’s lineup.       Isaac Paredes went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI on Wednesday night, propelling the Rays to a 5-3 victory over the Marlins.

      Advice: Paredes opened the scoring in the contest with a two-run single off of Braxton Garrett in the opening inning and then scored on an RBI double off the bat of Josh Lowe. He also plated Brandon Lowe with an RBI double in the third inning that extended the Rays’ lead to 5-2.       Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the Marlins in the ninth inning on Wednesday, preserving a two-run lead to earn his eighth save of the season.

      Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander made quick work of the Marlins in this one, getting Dane Myers on a swinging third strike, Tim Anderson on a ground ball to shortstop and Vidal Brujan on a line drive to center to end it. He needed just 11 pitches (10 strikes) to dispatch of the Fish. On the season, Fairbanks now sports a 3.32 ERA to go with a 22/10 K/BB ratio over 19 innings on the season.       José Alvarado struck out the side in the ninth inning on Wednesday against the Brewers to collect his 11th save of the season.

      Advice: Alvarado worked around a one-out single from William Contreras to pick up his second save in the last three days, striking out Andruw Monasterio, Christian Yelich and Willy Adames to protect a two-run margin. The 29-year-old southpaw has converted 11 of his 12 save opportunities this season to go along with a solid 2.96 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 29/10 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings (29 appearances).       Francisco Lindor went 2-for-5 with a homer and a pair of runs scored on Wednesday as the Mets routed the Nationals in Washington.

      Advice: The dynamic 30-year-old shortstop went back-to-back with Luis Torrens off of Patrick Corbin in the sixth inning, with his 428-foot (109.3 mph EV) bomb increasing the Mets’ lead to 4-0. He also led off the seventh inning with a single and scored as J.D. Martinez bounced into a double play.       Alvarado gave up a hit and struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 11th save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Brewers.

      Advice: The southpaw picked up his first save since May 21 with a dominant effort, as he fired 15 of 21 pitches for strikes. Alvarado is putting together a strong season, posting a 2.96 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB through 27.1 innings and blowing only one save chance so far, but the Phillies' tendency to play matchups in high-leverage spots keeps him from being an elite fantasy closer, as Jeff Hoffman (five saves) and Gregory Soto (two saves) are also in the ninth-inning mix.
