    • Punches out seven
Gore (2-3) was hit with the loss Tuesday versus Texas after giving up two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven batters across five innings.

Advice: Gore managed to keep the Rangers off the scoreboard for the first three innings, but an RBI single from Jonah Heim in the fourth followed by a fielder's choice in the fifth was all it took for Texas to take the lead over Washington and hand Gore his third consecutive loss. Despite his record, the 25-year-old lefty still owns a 3.19 ERA and 1.35 WHIP on the year and has struck out at least six batters in four of his six starts. He's projected to start on the mound again Sunday against Toronto. Rotowire.com Today, 2:01 am
    • MacKenzie Gore strikes out seven Rangers in loss
MacKenzie Gore allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out seven in Tuesday’s loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Fantasy managers couldn’t have hoped for much more out of Gore against a potent Rangers lineup. Despite getting saddled with a tough loss, Gore allowed just seven total base runners over five innings but fell victim to the long ball on solo blasts from Jonah Heim and Josh Smith. Gore struck out six or more batters in four of his six starts this month and is now sporting a 3.19 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He’s been a pleasant surprise for the Nationals thus far and will look to continue his hot start in his next outing, which is slated for Sunday against the Blue Jays. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:34 pm
    • Not facing lefty
Carter is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Nationals.

Advice: Carter has now sat out each of the Rangers' last three games against left-handed pitching and seems to be falling into a platoon. Wyatt Langford will draw the start in left while Davis Wendzel will handle DH duties Tuesday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:01 pm

    • Productive out of leadoff spot
Ruiz went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Pirates on Monday.

Advice: Five of Ruiz's nine hits on the season have now gone for extra bases, leading to his considerably surprising .528 slugging percentage across 42 plate appearances. The speedy outfielder has seen an increase in strikeout rate to 23.8 percent and is sporting a bloated 34.8 percent chase rate as well, but the Athletics might be willing to live with some of that if Ruiz can continue to demonstrate improved pop after posting a middling .654 OPS across 132 games in 2023. • Teoscar Hernández drives in two in victory
Teoscar Hernández finished 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI as the Dodgers topped the Diamondbacks 8-4 on Monday.

Advice: Hernández was the exit velocity champ tonight, hitting balls 110.8, 107.9 and 103.7 mph. His .263/.326/.466 line isn’t quite stellar, but with six homers, 22 RBI and three steals in 31 games, he’s definitely meeting expectations for fantasy purposes. Rotoworld Monday, 10:41 pm
    • First hiccup of 2024
Diaz (0-1) took the loss Monday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts across one inning.

Advice: Diaz spoiled Luis Severino's eight-inning gem, allowing a double to Mike Tauchman and a two-run home run to Christopher Morel in the final frame to put the Cubs ahead 3-1, where the score would remain. The loss was Diaz's first true blemish of the campaign, being a perfect 4-for-4 in save chances with no prior losses. His ERA jumped from 0.93 to 2.53 following Monday's contest and his WHIP sits at 0.94 through 10.2 innings. Rotowire.com Monday, 9:27 pm

    • Could need just one rehab start
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that it's possible Steele (hamstring) rejoins the rotation after his rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: The left-hander's rehab start Wednesday will be his first outing since he suffered a left hamstring strain back on Opening Day. As long as Steele gets his pitch count up to a high enough threshold and recovers well from the start, it sounds like he could be back with the Cubs early next week. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:41 pm

    • Steele (hamstring) may make only one rehab start
Cubs manager Craig Counsell told reporters Monday that Justin Steele (hamstring) may only need one rehab start.

Advice: Steele is set to make a rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, and Counsell wouldn’t rule out that the southpaw could make his next start with the Cubs after that outing. Even is the 28-year-old needs to make one more rehab appearance after, it shouldn’t be long before Steele is back in the rotation for the Cubs and fantasy managers. Rotoworld Monday, 3:23 pm

    • Start pushed to Wednesday
After Monday's game against the Cardinals was postponed due to inclement weather, Maeda will start in Wednesday's contest, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Advice: The Tigers will roll with Jack Flaherty in the first game Tuesday, while Matt Manning is pencilled in to start the second contest as the 27th man. Maeda holds an 0-1 record over five starts this season, posting a 5.96 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB over 22.2 frames. Rotowire.com Monday, 2:53 pm
