He tossed 62 of 92 pitches for strikes in his third quality start of the season, but Bassitt will carry a shaky 5.45 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Philadelphia.       Advice: McKenzie was highly effective Wednesday despite getting down in the count early and often, striking out at least six batters for the third-consecutive start, with five of those strikeouts coming on his curveball. The right-hander issued only one free pass in the contest, which marked a season low, while also going seven innings for the first time in the early campaign.       Advice: McKenzie was outstanding against the Astros on Wednesday. He had allowed just one hit across five scoreless innings before a double and a base hit brought the first run in for Houston in the sixth. Kyle Tucker led off the seventh inning with a game-tying homer. McKenzie finished the inning with two strikeouts, giving him six on the day.       Juan Soto singled, walked and stole a pair of bases as the Yankees triumphed over the Orioles on Wednesday evening in Baltimore.

      Advice: Soto smacked a one-out single off of Corbin Burnes in the top half of the first inning and swiped second base before being stranded there. He then worked a leadoff walk in the sixth inning, and once again nabbed second before being thrown out trying to steal third. He hasn't hit any reported snags in his recovery since resuming his throwing program, but it's not yet clear when Cole will be able to take the next meaningful step forward in his recovery from his right elbow injury by getting back on the mound.       Advice: Estrada reached on an error and recorded his first steal of the year to get into scoring position, though he was left on base. Considering he logged a combined 44 steals over the previous two seasons, it's unusual that he's been less active on the basepaths. It doesn't help that he's batting just .229 with a .248 on-base percentage for the year, though those numbers improve to .291 and .316, respectively, over the last 16 games.
