    • Earns save in return
Kimbrel earned the save in Friday's 3-0 win over Cincinnati, striking out three in a perfect ninth inning.

Advice: It was Kimbrel's first appearance in five days, as the veteran right-hander was dealing with back soreness. He certainly didn't show any signs of rust Friday, striking out the side to close out a shutout victory for his eighth save this season. Kimbrel had blown consecutive save chances before he was sidelined, allowing three runs in just a third of an inning. He now sports a 2.92 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB across 12.1 innings this season. Rotowire.com 4 minutes ago
    • Yusei Kikuchi sharp in no-decision versus Nats
Yusei Kikuchi limited the Nationals to one run in six innings and fanned seven in a no-decision Friday.

Advice: Kikuchi left with a two-run lead and then watched the bullpen give up seven runs in two innings. This is probably the Jays’ ugliest loss yet, particularly since they were facing Patrick Corbin. Kikuchi is certainly doing his part thus far, amassing a 2.72 ERA and a 43/9 K/BB ratio in 39 2/3 innings. Still, the Jays are 3-4 when he pitches, having scored a total of 20 runs in those seven games. Rotoworld 41 minutes ago
    • Routed by Rays
Quintana (1-3) took the loss Friday as the Mets were downed 10-8 by Tampa Bay, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.

Advice: The veteran lefty managed to keep the ball in the park, but after a scoreless first inning, Quintana got pecked to death by a barrage of singles and doubles in his shortest outing of the season. The rough performance tacked more than a run onto his ERA, and Quintana will carry a 5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB through 36.1 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in St. Louis. • Quality start wasted Friday
Kikuchi came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-3 loss to the Nationals, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out seven

Advice: He carved up the Washington lineup en route to his fourth quality start of the season, generating 34 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches, and Kikuchi left the mound with Toronto ahead 3-1. Unfortunately, Erik Swanson immediately coughed up the lead in the seventh inning, denying Kikuchi his third win. The southpaw will take a 2.72 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB through 39.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Twins. Rotowire.com Today, 7:45 pm
    • José Quintana gets obliterated in loss to Rays
José Quintana was absolutely obliterated in Friday night’s loss to the Rays, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: Woof. The 35-year-old left-hander also walked a batter while striking out two in the abbreviated outing. The Rays got to him early and often in this one, pushing three runs across in the second inning and adding five more while chasing Quintana in the third inning. Quintana got eight swings and misses on 65 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 22 percent. He’ll try to pick up the pieces and improve upon his suddenly-grotesque 5.20 ERA and 1.54 WHIP when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 6:40 pm
    • Craig Kimbrel (back) ready to resume closer’s role
Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters on Friday that Craig Kimbrel (back) is ready to return to the team’s closer role.

Advice: He may have gotten there sooner if the Orioles had a save chance arise over the past couple of days, but it sounds like the 35-year-old hurler is ready to rock for the weekend. Any usefulness that Yennier Cano may have had from a fantasy perspective is now gone in most mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 3:14 pm
    • Brandon Drury (head) remains out of action Friday
Brandon Drury (migraine) remains out of the Angels’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Guardians.

Advice: It’s unclear if Drury is sitting again because he’s still dealing with the migraine issue, or if manager Ron Washington simply wanted to go a different direction with right-hander Tanner Bibee on the hill for the Guardians on Friday night. Luis Rengifo will cover second base in his absence while Willie Calhoun functions as the Halos’ designated hitter. Rotoworld Today, 1:38 pm

    • Sidelined again Friday
Drury (migraine) isn't part of Friday's lineup against the Guardians.

Advice: Drury was scratched from Wednesday's contest due to a migraine, and while it hasn't been confirmed that it's the injury holding him out of Friday's game, it can be assumed that that's the case. Luis Rengifo will make another start at second with Ehire Adrianza over at third. Rotowire.com Today, 1:37 pm

    • Available Friday
Manager Brandon Hyde said Kimbrel (back) is available as the Orioles' closer Friday in Cincinnati, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.comreports.

Advice: The 35-year-old hasn't seen the field since his back acted up Sunday against the A's, but he's ready to go after resting up over the past few days. Kimbrel allowed three runs and recorded just one out while blowing saves in each of his past two outings, though the injury may have played a role in those results. He has a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB over 11.1 innings for the season. Rotowire.com Today, 1:29 pm
