    • Belts decisive homer
Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored Monday in a 4-3 win against St. Louis.

Advice: With the score tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Nimmo swatted a 415-foot solo shot to right field that provided the winning margin for New York. The veteran outfielder extended his hitting streak to five games, and four of his seven hits over that span have gone for extra bases. Nimmo has lifted his season average to .228 with the hot stretch following a cold start to the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:38 pm

    • Brandon Nimmo swats go-ahead homer to fold Cards
Brandon Nimmo launched a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh inning on Monday, lifting the Mets to a 4-3 victory over the Cardinals.

Advice: Nimmo’s tie-breaking seventh-inning shot off veteran reliever Andrew Kittredge wound up being the difference in a low-scoring series-opening showdown at Busch Stadium. It was his fourth round-tripper of the season and second time he’s gone deep in his last eight contests since April 29. The 31-year-old leadoff specialist is batting .228/.376/.394 with 19 runs scored, four homers, 22 RBI and two steals across 157 plate appearances so far. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:49 pm

    • Maikel Garcia drives in two in win against MIL
Maikel Garcia went 1-for-2 with a two-run RBI single to help lift the Royals to a 3-2 win versus the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done. Garcia got great contact on a sinker off Elvis Peguero in the sixth inning that got in between shortstop and second base. According to Statcast, the hit probability was just 41%, but with an exit velocity of 106.5 MPH, Garcia definitely earned the hit. The 24-year-old is slashing .236/.292/.671 with four homers and 22 RBI this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:36 pm

    • Nick Castellanos finally collects first double
Nick Castellanos doubled, singled and walked twice versus the Giants on Monday.

Advice: Each time it looks like Castellanos might be turning the corner, he’s gone right back to slumping the next day. Still, this rates as his best game so far this season. The double was hit 389 feet and would have been a homer in nine ballparks. Incredibly, it was the first two-bagger of the year for a guy who once had 58 of them. He finished with 37 last season. • Back in starting nine Monday
Ruiz (wrist) will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Rangers.

Advice: After he was pulled from Saturday's 20-4 win over the Marlins with a wrist injury, Ruiz was sent in for an MRI, but the imaging evidently revealed nothing concerning. The speedy outfielder will slot back in atop the lineup with Oakland facing a left-hander (Andrew Heaney) on Monday, but Ruiz still looks as though he'll be limited to a short-side platoon role that will limit his opportunities to play against right-handed pitching. • Esteury Ruiz (wrist) hitting leadoff vs. Rangers
Esteury Ruiz (wrist) is hitting leadoff and playing left field against the Rangers on Monday.

Advice: Ruiz was removed from Saturday’s game with a left wrist injury, but he’s feeling well enough to hit in the top spot for Monday’s game against the Rangers. Ruiz has been solid thus far in 2024 with an .847 OPS and four stolen bases over 18 games for the A’s. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:41 pm

    • Added to Monday's lineup
Drury will start at second base and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Pirates, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Drury was initially slated to receive the day off, but he'll end up handling his usual role as the starting second baseman after Luis Rengifo (illness) was scratched. The 31-year-old Drury heads into Monday's contest in a 2-for-31 funk at the plate over his last 10 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:15 pm

    • Absent from lineup
Drury is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Advice: Drury played the last two games after missing the two contests before that with a migraine. He's also missed time recently with a hamstring issue and has managed just two hits in his last 31 at-bats. Luis Rengifo will replace Drury at second base Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:58 am

    • Feels good after throwing
Sewald (oblique) said Sunday that he responded well to Saturday's inning of work in an extended spring training game, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports. "I haven't felt anything in 10 days now," Sewald said.

Advice: Following the encouraging news, Sewald plans to travel with the team to Cincinnati, where he could be activated for Tuesday's series opener against the Reds. He opened the season on the injured list and paused rehab is rehab after an appearance April 23. He downplayed the pause and was reticent to call it a setback; instead, Sewald chalked it up to panic and wanted a re-imaging to ease his mind. The reliever had never been on the injured list during his MLB career and didn't know what to expect. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:58 am
