  • Steven Matz (back) unlikely to make next start
Steven Matz (back) is unlikely to make his next scheduled start on Sunday against the White Sox.

Advice: The interesting wrinkle here is that the Cardinals decision to bump up Kyle Gibson and Miles Mikolas creates an opening on Tuesday against the Mets. The most likely candidate to fill that void would be pitching prospect Sem Robberse, who would be taking the ball on regular rest, and has been excellent this season for Triple-A Memphis. It’s a storyline worth monitoring this weekend. Rotoworld 43 minutes ago

  • Peter Lambert can’t get out of fourth against MIA
Peter Lambert went 3 1/3 innings while allowing four runs in a no-decision against the Marlins on Thursday.

Advice: Lambert was fortunate to get a no-decision with the Rockies providing just enough offensive support to keep him from the loss. The 27-year-old allowed five hits with three walks against three strikeouts in a middling — at best — effort against a mediocre Miami lineup. Lambert will not be a recommended option next week against the Giants. Rotoworld 45 minutes ago

  • Clears waivers
Pinto cleared waivers Thursday and was sent outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Advice: Pinto lost his spot on the 40-man roster Sunday after turning in a 10.97 ERA and 2.25 WHIP across 10.2 innings. The 30-year-old right-hander will now head to Triple-A in an effort to get back on track, but a return to the majors this year isn't likely, barring a drastic turnaround. Rotowire.com 47 minutes ago
  • Shaky vs. Marlins
Lambert did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Marlins, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: The Marlins got to Lambert quickly, scoring twice in the opening inning before tacking on runs in the third and the fourth. The 27-year-old Lambert's struggled in his two starts this year, allowing 10 runs in 6.1 innings. He's fared better out of the bullpen, however, pinching to a 1.88 ERA over 14.1 innings in relief. Still, the right-hander figures to remain in the rotation while Kyle Freeland (elbow) is sidelined. Lambert's currently scheduled for a home start against the Giants in his next outing. • Twins option Caleb Boushley to Triple-A
Twins optioned RHP Caleb Boushley to Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: Boushley heads back to the minors after a brief stint this week with the Twins. The 30-year-old righty didn’t get into a game and will continue to serve as extra organizational relief depth in the upper minors. Rotoworld Today, 1:09 pm
  • White Sox outright Deivi García to Triple-A
White Sox sent RHP Deivi García outright to Triple-A Charlotte.

Advice: García was universally-regarded as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball just a few years ago when he was with the Yankees, but it’s never really come together for him at the highest level. The 24-year-old righty will presumably stick around with Chicago as extra organizational pitching depth after passing through waivers unclaimed. Rotoworld Today, 1:05 pm
